Kovalev and ggg seem to hurt and put guys down with their average punches, nevermind the ones they fully step into. I think he's the biggest puncher he's ever faced, tito was a headhunter, kov will take any open spot.

Antonio Tarver said that Bernard was not going to go beyond 5 rounds but at round 5, he went out of balance, courtesy of a big counter punch, and touched the canvas. Obviously Antonio was a much bigger puncher than Kovalev but since this russian fans are saying the same that Bernard is not going to go beyond 5 or 6, I predict Sergey to establish contact with the canvas right about the time they predict Hopkins to go. Funny things happen, lots of laughs.

Taking the weight into account, yes.

RJJ, Tito (even at Middleweight) and Pavlik were big punchers but being hit by a Light-Heavyweight with crushing power is something totally different.

Pascal's punches had an effect on Hopkins a couple of times but that could be as much to do with his unorthodox style and hand-speed.

    Absolutely.

That's not to say Tito or Pavlik weren't punchers, but c'mon....those guys aren't even close to being considered punchers at 175. Tarver could punch, but Kovalev's a different caliber of punching power.

Kovalev, and it's not even debatable.

How is it "not debatable" when B-Hop fought Roy Jones?

Hopkins fought Roy at 160. No way a young Roy at 160 hits as hard as Kovalev. Roy was also not a great power puncher. Many of his knock outs were RTD or long sustained beat downs because the other guy just could not compete. Jones got some earlier KOs because he's one of the fastest and most accurate fighters ever. Kovalev is in no way in Roy's league as a fighter, but a 160 lb Jones does not have the same type of punishing power.

Don't be silly, Kovalev has so far only fought and ko'd bums whereas Tito, RJJ and Pavlik ko'd real fighters.

That's BS. Cleverly, Campillo and Sillah were not bums.

Pavlik was a slow and plodding middleweight that never knocked out any sturdy fighters that didn't make a habit of getting stopped. Tito was a 154 lb fighter that would have next to no power at 175. We all saw what a fat no hoper he was when he fought Roy.

Jones is a whole different matter. He's an other worldly athlete and had a lot of pop, but most of his knockouts were not just because of his power. His reflexes, accuracy and speed were a big cause of his knockouts. Roy would have been an ATG even if he was feather fisted. He was much more than raw power. Kovalev is a VERY basic fighter that would be a Russian gym teacher without his ability to punch.
