ENDS at 160.

Cotto is already wearing the pants.

Why do you think GGG is begging smaller fighters to give him a shot?

155 for THE Middleweight Chamionship? Roach is a joke he loves catchweight fights. GGG needs to tell them no catchweight. They cheapen the sport. There are 18 damn Divisions pick one and fight in it. To me catchweight fights should have an * by the winner. It is a farce.

The middleweight limit is 160. The middleweight division is 155-160.

Exactly. So GGG doesn't have to come in at 155, Cotto can if he wants....

Let's see what comes of this. They might be hoping for GGG to counter with 157lb.

    :think

they would add this catch-weight in contract, so GGG would have to weigh 155 lbs (or whatever c/w they would agree for the fight) on the weighing scale before the fight night. So, NO Cotto can weigh 155 lbs and GGG 160 lbs mw weight limit.

I wish we'd quit talking about this.

Cotto has ZERO interest in GGG. Not at 154, not at 155, not at 157, not at MW.

    NONE. ZERO. NADA.

He's fighting Bradley and that's all there is to it.

Then he'll fight Canelo or Rubio, but he'll NEVER fight GGG. EVER. At ANY weight.

    155, 156, 157, 158 or 159 c/w is still bull**** IMO if you're the mw 'lineal' champ.

I'd have understood if Cotto was the jr MW 'lineal' champ and ask a c/w fight against the MW champ but Cotto at this moment is the MW 'king'.

Middleweight limit is 160, if you don't want to fight challengers at that weight then give up the title. These guys are unbelievable. What a ***** move

I'd say Cotto's lineal title is bull****. He's relatively unestablished at the weight even if he is the 'lineal' champ.

155 - 160 is middle weight. Cotto is by far the A side, and has never weighed 160.

155 is to low, but I think not expecting any catch weight at all is a bit much. If they fight, there will be one.

That is very Freddie Roach and Miguel Cotto of them to ask.

However, Golovkin is the one who has been saying for years that he could easily make 154 for a big fight. Cotto is a big fight.

freddie strikes again, and nobody dares criticise him. Is it because of his illness?

GGG wants the lineal title. I think the payday is secondary because he knows his paydays are coming. In an era of Super Champions, Regular Champions, Interm Champions, and FOUR organizations being recognized belts, we have anywhere from 4 to 7 people in a division calling themselves "champion". The lineal title, most people feel, is the only metric of who is the real champ in a division, short of unifications, which rarely happen in this age of the protected fighter.

If one is going to set up shop and hold the MW lineal title hostage and defend it against 154-pounders and catchweights, I think that is BS.

Its because Freddie is not the one who deserves criticism. He is just a trainer. Its his job to get his fighter in best position for W, and its not his job to worry about anything else.

That doesnt mean its not bull****, just Freddie isnt the one who has the final say. Thats Cotto. Catchweight unification fights are utter horse****. Just place blame where its warranted, not with his trainer. Freddie can say whatever he wants, Cotto has full control of his career so its not even TR - all the authority lies with Cotto. He decides , noone else.
