Fans hated on AS for fighting Hopkins because he DUCKED Kov first. Well f*ck him he's lost out now.

The reality of their resumes don't support this statement.

Stevenson got in the ring with former world champions in Chad Dawson, Tavoris Cloud and was in line to fight Bernard Hopkins while Krusher's last 5 fights were against Cornelius White, Nate Cleverly, Ismayl Sillah, Cedric Agnew and Caparello.

Just like with GGG, 'fighting the best' can't just be limited to the guy you supposedly are calling out.

No doubt Stevenson's resume is superior. But that is mainly built on Dawson. And you're right about 'fighting the best' which is why it is commended when a guy fights the best available opponent. Which is what both Kovalev and Hopkins are doing.

But since Kovalev and Stevenson came onto a collision course, Stevenson seems to be content to milk his titles. It seemed to have been brought into the public eye the night of the Bellew fight when Kovalev declared he wanted to fight Stevenson(which was kind of the point of having Kovalev fight in Stevenson's backyard, on the same card). Everything since has been evidence of the exact opposite.

I understand money talks, and this is a business after all, and about risk vs reward. But when a guy keeps talking the talk, but walking away, well, it smacks of milking to me. There seems to be an endless run of excuses to back up his actions, but there is nothing other than his talk to indicate he wants any meaningful fights.

Meanwhile the boxing world keeps turning, and other guys are making meaningful fights. Showing, where there is a will, there's a way.

It wasn't about the most money for Hopkins; it was about Adonis and Al playing games. The same reason HBO gave them the boot. They wanted every term without guaranteeing anything on their end.

Hey, they've had two chances to make big unification fights. They didn't want it. Hopkins and Kovalev did. Negotiations there were no muss, no fuss.

They're giving the fans what they want, and that's who will get the accolades. Shame, it could've been Stevenson in either of their shoes.

Wow, all the posters touting Showtime's unlimited resources do to CBS have vanished.

So, Kovalev-Hopkins is 'the fight fans want'? Since when?

HBO refused to up the ante on the Fonfara fight until Adonis had SIGNED for the KOvalev fight.

They werent going to give him 2 mil for Fonfara only to see him dodge Sergey, LIKE HE HAS PROVEN IN DODGING HOPKINS.

another thing......Fonfara was not BETTER than advertised. Shot Campillo was beasting him, and Lucian Bute would make mince meat of him, and he's lost his nerve. Giraffe Neck(IB*) is garbage. Stevenson is just worse garbage.

And no one said BHop vs Stevenson was a level of failure. We all said that BHop would starch the biitch. :huh

I absolutely love what Hopkins has done. I usually bash him for his in/out ring antics but this was a fantastic move and firmly gives Al Haymon/Stevenson the finger. I didn't for one second think he'd actually stay true to his word but massive credit where it'd due, he's given the fans what they want and refused to play a part in this bull**** game Stevenson and his crew seem intent on playing.

Stevenson pulling out of the Kov fight was massively disappointing and stank of cowardice. Now it transpires that, even if was legitimately for business purposes, that too has backfired in such a way to publically humiliate him and his team even more! Hilarious!

If it wasn't for the fact it'd likely make for a decent fight, I'd hope that once the Kov /Hopkins fight is over, that Stevenson ends up chasing the winner, only to get strung along and pissed around like it seems he's been guilty of over recent months.

How is Adonis' resume better than Kovalevs? Break it down for me.

There is only one name that stands out, and that's Chad Dawson, who many had written off after his loss to Ward, and who's only really notable win was over Hopkins himself.

    Campillo beat Cloud

    Cleverly beat Bellew

'in line' to fight Hokins doesn't really count as part of your resume does it? - well if it does Kovalev is also 'in line' now.

    Kovalev himself beat Deezol twice.

So where's this big difference in resume?

I'm happy to acknowledge that Fonfara's more proven than Agnew (though FWIW these two Chitown based kids should fight - as should Agnew and Top Dog - beaten by Campillo on Friday) and Caparello, but Sillakh and White were arguably as good as any of Stevensons previous opponents overall.

Fans want big fights. Fans want unification fights. Fans want to see fighters take chances.

    Hopkins-Kovalev gives them that.

Coulda been Stevenson. Could've been in his back yard, too. Too bad he needs all the concessions to take a fight instead of just most of them.
