He certainly hits very hard. But I'd like to wait and see him in a few more fights against some durable types before I make the call about him being the hardest hitter at light heavy ever. He still has to fill the shoes of men like Archie Moore, Bob Foster, Michael Moorer and quite a few others before anyone can start throwing that claim around.

He broke Agnew's rib with a jab to the body, a jab, that's ridiculous. He obviously has heavy hands but i also think he has very good punch placement/accuracy to go along with it.

The best that I think we can hope for is that Bernard doesn't get too badly hurt. I think they'll pick a smart referee who will know when to step in if he has to, and everyone involved in the fight, ie, corners, doctors, officials, etc, will be watching close. If Kovalev starts putting a hurting on him, they'll stop it quick. I'd love to see a hopkins upset but then again it might be good for the sport and the division, if he passed the torch on to a young lion at this point

Kovalev seems to have great power which is evenly distributed. Not bad boxing fundamentals either which makes him that bit more dangerous.

Regarding pure TNT it would take a lot to outstrip Bob Foster, and then we don't even have the pleasure (if pleasure is the right word) of watching Bob Fitzsimmons crush opponents with a single blow.

I do echo Burt's sentiments about how Kovalev can drill you with that straight left - little leverage and BAM!

we can usually tell as a fighter moves up in class and at the age of 31 Kov has not done that yet. The Hopkins fight will tell us if his power can move up in class because real power would make null and void B-Hops bag of tricks....Kov has to let B-Hop feel power that he has never felt before and this will be the start of the answer to your question if he can do so effectively

Boxing history has seen some past their prime greats get demolished at the hands of a much younger murderous punchers.

Marciano over Louis or Tyson over Holmes come to mind.

Kovalev forces his opponents to either move or engage. Older fighters can't fight or move a full three minutes over the course of 12 rounds.

Much younger men, and some faster than Hopkins can't avoid Kovalev's crippling shots to the head or body.

I'm not sure if Hopkins is just talking or if he's going to enter the ring this November vs Kovalev. If they fight, Hopkins gets knocked out.

if the KRUSHER UD'd all of his opponents instead him ko'ing them would be more rated than he is now?? Seems that him knocking everyone out means he cant do everything else according too most fans.
Is he Really a puncher who cant outbox anyone??
Give me a handful of fights where he has been dominated and totally schooled in one round.

Now we all know Bernard The Alien/Executioner Hopkins is the better boxer, and thats why its a close fight and a 50/50 fight. If Bernard wasnt so schooled and tricky it would be another blowout.

So dont think Kovalev is another Jeff Lacy because he has shown more Talent already than that clown, and hes not another James glass jaw Kirkland either.

It will be a close fight, If The Alien uses all his experience he can get the decision, if he stands in the pocket and gets scuffed his chin wont even come into it. Sergey KRUSHER Kovalev isnt a man who cares about the strength of your chin.

It's not a 50-50 fight according to the bookies

Its a 75-25 fight according to them

Kovalev is 1/3 on favourite, Hopkins is like 5/2 or around that
