Same old bull**** from one of the worst refs in the game still. Can’t believe (or maybe I can) that he would fall right into Rios’s hands—completely believing his exaggeration of Chaves’s fouls. Sure he did some shoving/poking and some dirty things in the clinch, but a lot of them were pretty negligible. And it’s not like Rios was fighting a completely clean fight either. Rios was landing shots on Chaves on the inside, but Chaves was using distance extremely well, landing some nice straight rights from the outside. It’s that we didn’t get to see this fight come to a legitimate end. Just ridiculous. I hate the times where interesting boxing matches become circus material. This was one of them.
There's a lot of blame to go around here but this fight was turning into "circus material" mainly because of Chavez's constant clinching and WWF tactics.
You are absolutely right, the ref cheated us outta a decision that could've seen Rios lose another fight. He saw the dirty **** on both sides and he should've just broke the clinches as soon as possible and let them fight. Chavez was in that ass. He had the people ooing and awing at some of his connects. Plus I think that long legged beauty that was in his dressing room promised to get with him if he won. She had him grinning like a school boy in there.
Sounds like you were watching some gay porno cause that sure as hell was not the Chavez/Rios fight. On second thought, Chavez did throw a lot of hugs, never mind:-(

Should have been wider for Chaves. Somebody must have tipped off Arum and said the fight is going to be a win or draw for Chaves. Arum, "Oy vey. Play the DQ card."
Well I Cant tell if Vic saw it or not but if he didnt he got really lucky. I know your moving on from the fight but im just telling you It actually happened. I thought he was just taking rios word for it but Chavez did do it. Chavez cheated you out of it. Not to defend rios but it look like he was naturally slumped over. I did feel like mexican insanity he was too into the fight I liked the warnings about holding because alverado rios had none and that was fire works. I didnt like rios lost a point for his slam and not chavez for his DDT i didnt like the stoppage until i watched the fight again the stoppage was warranted
Again, you saw what you wanted to see. Chavez didn't all of a sudden decide to hug Rios to get a warm fuzzy feeling. Rios was putting some hurt from rd 2 and Chavez was feeling it. The fight was close when it got stopped.
If your a fighter and you never use a jab to come in and your crotch over there's going to be some foul play. How many Jabs did Rio throw that night ,the guy comes in with his head down. ....The fight should had not been a DQ.
Rios got his shots in but the fact remains that when the fight was stopped, Chavez was ahead on two scorecards. As for the hurt, that was a two way street. Chavez was hitting Rios so hard that the audience was going oooo, awwww. He was putting it on Rios ass and you know it.
Yeah, cause the judges scorecards are always a good barometer of what's going on in the fight. Chaves could not deal with Rios's heat and that's why he turned it into a clinch-a-thon.:deal
