The way he immediately said "oh yeah" when asked if a lot of PED use was going on tells you how rife it is. Everyone's probably at it.
Thats interesting, because back when Floyd was asking for OSDT, all the PED experts (Pac fans) on this board told me that PEDs wasnt even a problem in boxing.
PED's don't make you a better boxer.....if you have boxing skills no steroid is going to sharpen your technique or improve your timing. But it can help with improving stamina, muscle recovery and strength. So in a sense he's absolutely right......there are no magic pills that is going to make a super fit, PED abuser into a Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiaou......But if you are a Floyd Mayweather or PAC who is on PED's there's no doubt they are competing at a higher level from a physical standpoint.
I think it’s a Bad Thing in any sport, but especially in martial arts, because injury is already the norm. Souped-up, ’roid-raging macho youths are going to do far more damage than necessary to get the win. Allthough more experienced, older boxers are probably aware of what they’re getting into, young ones—and boxing has lots of young ones—probably don’t: They’re in a position where they must trust coaches and advisers, and their corrupters aren’t going to say, “Here, take some HGH.” They’re going to say “Here, drink this Green Tea Super-Extract with Mega Vitamins, you can beat anybody drinking this tea.” If that’s coming from someone the athlete has always trusted, s/he’s not going to suddenly stop, that’s not human nature. We haven’t even researched or taken the question this far, but IMO PEDs use has got to raise health issues long term. For one thing, just the fact that they’re willing in the present to take more punishment is logically likely to increase exponentially the incidence of dementia pugilistica, Parkinson’s, early Alzheimers etc., which we all stand around rueing and feeling guilty about all the time. Moreover, and I havent’ researched this, but the kidneys and liver are filters, and have just got to be stressed by these additives. Don’t know where that will lead. Nowhere good, most likely. I sometimes wonder if some who condone/accept it, do so because in the short term it leads to more exciting fights, a kind of chemical gladiatorial attitude, subliminal/unconscious I suppose, that really isn’t cool. “Who cares what they do, as long as they hit harder and the fights last longer” sort of thing.
He's right. Fans make out like this **** takes tomato cans and makes them ATGs, or singles hitters in baseball into Babe Ruth. It's total nonsense, without a SHRED of scientific evidence.:deal Sorry if you can't play the game no pill or shot is gonna make you any good.:-(
Of course if you're **** already, then you aren't going to magically become good from going on the juice. But come on. Roids definitely can definitely put already good athletes above and beyond, to say it doesn't increase performance is just foolish.
lance armstrong biggest advantage was the fact he wasn't feeling the pain of exhaustion when all of his competitor were and he would cycle very far ahead in his races like floyd and how he hardly gets tired and refuses to make his test results public
Take baseball for example.... Look at the numbers of A-ROD, Bonds, McGuire, Sosa etc and how they conveniently spiked just after they started taking roids. We wouldn't have seen the kind of stats we saw in the "steroid era" if it weren't for steroids themselves.
Baseball and cycling are not contact sports ! Why do people always try to compare these sports to boxing ? If it made you better than Vargas would have been the next Hopkins ! Did Roids help Tommy Morrison's chin ?
You defiantly need good stamina but you have to be able to walk in the ring land your punches and out think your opponent. Steroids will not improve your IQ which is what separates the standouts from the rest ..Now in no way am I promoting the use of PED's but I'm so sick of this argument when it comes to boxing.
Good point. While the impact of steroids is scientifically debatable in ANY sport, it is particularly so in boxing.
