Bernard Hopkins choose Kovalev over Stevenson because he sees as the easier fight.

Styles make fights and I believe Bernard Hopkins sees Stevenson's counter punching ability and overall slickness more difficult than Kovalev's punching power and aggressive style. Hopkins doesn't really duck anyone but when he goes out of his way in search of fight with you, there are things he sees and believes that he believe he can exploit in your game. Discuss.

 

Agree with half of what you say. Adonis is a good counter puncher and slick, but kovalev is a much more destructive puncher so I think those attributes cancel each other out as far as which one is more dangerous. I think they're equally a risky fight.

Wrong. Adonis is one of the most one dimensional fighters out there. He relies on that overhand left 75% of the time and he telegraphs it to boot. The idea that he's a harder fight than Kovalev is laughable.

Hopkins is fighting Kovalev because Stevenson bitched out. Stevenson overvalued himself and tried to screw over Hopkins during negotiations and left him with two choices...fight Kovalev and try unify the division for fight his bum mandatory.

Ever since Haymon got into Stevenson's head, he think he's worth more, despite pulling in poor ratings against Fonfara. The funniest thing about him is that he will make less money in 2014 than he did in 2013.

 

Fonfara fights like a robot with a stick up its ass and he put Stevenson down. Kovalev would really walk through that guy.

 

It was GYM who said BHop was taking less money. Kind of saying that Bhop was ducking Stevenson.

Ive often though stylistically Stevenson would be the harder for Hopkins. Those saying he only has an overhand left. His left fight he did serious work with the straight left to the body.

Hopkins and Stevenson had a fight arranged, Stevenson's people basically demanded more money at the last minute then stopped returning his calls. Sounds like the pimp got cold feet.

Normally I wouldn't necessarily believe one guy's account but this is Adonis Stevenson, notorious ducker and Bernard Hopkins, who has a tougher resume at age 40+ alone than Stevenson does in his career.
