Tito was a 147 lb. welterweight. I predicted right here at ESB that Hopkins would stop Tito and he did. Kovalev would have knocked Tito out cold................Kovalev is the hardest puncher Hopkins has ever fought, a huge puncher with boxing ability...............

He'll be the heaviest puncher, but not the best puncher.

Some responses on here are downright weird, it is as if the question asked is whether Kovalev is the best fighter Hopkins has ever faced, not the biggest puncher.

Kovalev is a massive puncher, whilst he hasn't fought any world class opponents yet, he has steamrolled some decent fighters in the light heavyweight division, who have never previously shown weak chins. His power is obvious within a minute of watching his fights. To me, the only fighter who Hopkins faced who may be compared in terms of punch power is Tarver, but as Hopkins v Tarver fight showed, having power is one thing, landing on Hopkins is another.

Cleverly is the only one worth mentioning out of an awful list and that's not saying much. The fact that a 50 year old Hopkins is his biggest fight/test yet says a lot and I'm not trying to be negative/hateful towards him, just being honest.

Still, if he manages to KO the 50 year old version of Hopkins it would be huge regardless.

That 50 year old Hopkins is top 3 in the division, so it's hardly suprising that it'll be his best win/test to date.

He might not have proved his power against the elite- although he's proved his power anyway, it's just whether he can land those shots againts the elite he hasn't proved. He's a full size, big punching LHW so he's naturallly going to hit harder than MWs and LMWs.

Yes. Probably so. But, it most likely won't look that way when they are in the ring.

Based on styles, I'd say Stevenson has a higher chance at landing his power, on BHOP, than Kovalev.

Well his last four opponents all in world title fights had only ever been stopped once between them in 94 fights. That's pretty impressive if you ask me even if they weren't elite.

How is Tarver who at the time of fighting Hopkins had lost to E Harding, lost to the version of Jones that people say wasnt his best when dropping from HW and lost to G Johnson, better than Kovalev?
