In the past I have criticised Hopkins on here and smashed the Borenard fanboys from one side of the forum to the other with consumate ease, but in this instance I've gotta give Hopkins full credit for fighting Kovalev.

Yes Hopkins is the most boring fighter on the planet:zzz
Yes Hopkins fights dirty then crys like a pu$$y when fouled back :gayfight
Yes Hopkins feigns injury during fights and robs the public of their hard earned money :crybaby
Yes Hopkins doesn't want to take the test :nono
Yes Hopkins fought in the weakest middleweight era of all time :yep
Yes Hopkins feasted on welterweights like ODLH, Trinidad and attempted to get both Mosley and Mayweather in the ring
Yes Hopkins cowardly ducked peak Calzaghe despite being offered a career high payday :deal
Yes Hopkins lost to every elite level fighter he ever fought at a fair weight :beat

But on this occasion I give Hopkins full props, I realise there will be no testing in this fight but for Hopkins to get in the ring with Kovalev is the bravest / most foolish decision in his carefully managed smoke and mirrors boxing career.

The end result? There is only 3 endings
    - Hopkins will either take a savage beating
    - Hopkins will foul himself out of the fight by being purposely disqualified
    - Hopkins will feign injury and look for a disqualification victory

People fail to realize that Pavlik was a more proven fighter than Kovalev (at this point) coming off as a devastating KO artist into the fight with Hopkins.

I never thought Hopkins could pull it off. He did it. Then why should i dare doubt him again? How much has hopkins slowed down since then and the shumenov fight? Not at all.

Yes it will be a dull and boring fight for those who dont know....but never doubt the alien after so many times he has proven u wrong.

Pavlik was a MW champ fighting Hopkins at LHW. What LHW pedigree did Pavlik have?
Kovalev has a much greater pedigree at the weight

Hopkins was a true mw himself throughout his career. He had only what 3-4 fights at super middle prior to the pavlik fight?

Pavlik had KOs over Taylor who was well hyped and officially ruined after that fight.
Can u compare any of kovalevs opponents to Taylor at this point? No.

Dont forgot that KOvalev won't be adding vodka to his veggie juice during training camp.

Ppl forget that Pavlik had self imploded BEFORE his loss to Hopkins.

NTM.......really.....who did Pavlik beat besides Taylor. Fernando Zuniga???? Edison Miranda???
Smoke and mirrors. Bute destroyed those guys and much better even.

And Taylor?????Suddely he was shot when Froch fought him a yr later????:lol::lol:

Hopkins turned pro inside CW and has had more fights weighing above MW, than inside MW.
Hopkins had to be very disciplined to stay at MW.

As for comparing Taylor to Kovalev. I dont have to because they are completely different weights. The fight is at LHW. What pedigree did Taylor have at LHW? None. In fact how did Taylor do above MW? He lost more than won.
You could still compare a Kovalev opponent to Taylor. Undefeated N Cleverly was a top 3 LHW, who had beaten undefeated top 10 LHW Bellew, beat undefeated top 10 LHW Murat etc. Taylor had 2 disputed wins over Hopkins where Hopkins finished the stronger and then its a draw with a LMW that some felt he lost, a close SD over a former WW champ and LMW champ that some felt he lost, a performance that didnt inspire against another LMW and a loss to Pavlik. Is that as good as Kovalev whos opponents in world title fights have a combined record of 92-1-1.
Still as said its LHW not a MW coming up to LHW

Taylor just didnt seem to do as well above SMW. Some fighters just dont seem to do as well in different divisions

Im comparing taylors accomplishments to any of kovalevs opppnents until this point. i suggest that when talking to a knowledgable boxing fan and athlete you should never mention combined record of opponents coz it means nothing....if u only looked at wlads opponent records u would think the guy is p4p the best of all time and we all know that is not the case

kovalevs first proven opponent is hopkins...pavliks was taylor

Cleverly was quite proven. As was Campillo. Yes, Caparello and Agnew were not as proven, but if you try to take credit away from Kovalev for Campillo or Cleverly, your'e gonna be TAUGHT.:nono

Campillo has been arguably a top 5 light heavy for 5 years now

Cleverly destroyed Murat and lots of other contenders and bellew, at the time cleverly was young undefeated , never knocked down ,never even rocked and taught to have an iron chin, kovalev destroyed him, cleverly has since moved up 25 pounds and his chin is doing wel there now to

Bernard has been fighting cleverly and campillos leftovers for two years now

    Props to Bernard.

And when Sergey KRUSHER Kovalev KRUSHES Him will be soon talking about an ATG Lhw, an ATG and one of the divisions hardest punchers. doesnt that excite you!!

Bernard will be an ATG regardless so dont worry B-hop fans.

Fortunetly light heavyweight is about to enter a golden age with the vast amount of incredible talent coming though

Unfortunetly with Hopkins soon to retire and Williams jr proven to be **** merica will have no one in the division and as a result it will be labeled as weak

Full credit for Hopkins wanting Kovalev next. There are far easier fights out there than this bloke.
