Oh it happened, but Rocky never lost on cuts. A young Clay in the amateurs once lost on cuts (bet you did not know this) and was also cut by a blow up light heavy in Bob Foster. Picking an outcome on cuts is like calling a draw. It doesn't happen often.
marciano is probably the slowest 185 pounder ever, in fact foreman and liston had faster feet, and comparable hand speed. saying that marciano was fast and that the speed difference between him and ali would not be great.. is the most laughable ridiculous and biased bull**** that i did listen ever
Why do people bring up the Cooper and Doug Jones fights as being some kind of gauge? Was that the prime Ali?...No, nowhere near. Put the Ali of Williams or Terrel in with Doug Jones and what do you see happening?
They wern't a prime Ali, but they do rather suggest that he had stylistic problems with this type of fighter. It is relevant information.
yes, and marciano or tyson fans usually use joe frazier as example, insinuating that ali was in his prime at that time, funny because the tyson fans use frazier in the ali fantasy match, saying that tyson was a better version of joe(total bul****) but then in the fantasy match foreman vs tyson they say that frazier and tyson were totally different haha
how is it relevant if ali was not in his prime? a prime fighter is different than his green or past prime version
The big thing about Ali was he was a big guy who had the workrate and speed of a lighter man. This is why he made idiots of big clumsy guys, they could not match his workrate, they could not catch him and he could run rings round these slower powerful guys and hurt them. But who did he have problems with? Cooper, Jones, spinks, Bob foster. Lighter guys who had a good workrate. They could anticipate and turn with him. Keep up with the pace and chase him. ALI loved the big tired guys. Williams was made for him. Frazier matched Ali for workrate and his sheer desire brought him up a peg. He was not as light as those other fellows but his engine and relentless crouching attack was reminiscent of somebody else with two handed power with as much desire.

He wouldn't get ****y and underestimate Marciano like he did to Cooper. He thought Cooper was a bum that couldn't do anything even if he dropped his hands and stuck his chin out.
Marciano was in imminent danger of losing on cuts to both Simmons and Charles. The split in his nose in their second fight would have resulted in a stoppage today. Yes I did know and Ali was stopped in another amatuer fight. Ali was never in danger of being stopped on cuts as a pro ,Marciano was.
Marciano as nowhere near as intense as Frazier, he was slower afoot and with his hands. He had problems with Foster? A fat 34years old Ali had Foster down seven times in 8 rounds! Ali didn't have much trouble with smaller guys either, he dominated Jerry Quarry twice and Ellis and Patterson twice. All of whom were faster of hand and foot than Marciano.
If you think that they are relevant to the stylistic argument, then by all means bring them up. Otherwise there is not much point.
