You have to take what he is saying in context. He is coming at the end of his career and fighting a middle weight who is dangerous but doesn't bring enough money or qudos would be foolish. Any other day he would fight him but whats the point at the point of his career. He wouldn't get any more respect or near it than when he beat Kessler, Bute, Groves or Pascal.

If he could bring the money and it could be made in Vegas in a year, then maybe it'll happen, otherwise GGG needs to work on his resume.

It would be a great fight to watch but I can't see GGG lasting if it ever went to a slugfest. As much as GGG is an exciting boxer to see, he is fighting much smaller opponents to someone like Froch. GGG is yet an untested SMW and Froch will be taller, stronger, rangier, powerful and more iron chinned than anything he has faced. For every punch he lands, Froch will land back on him.

I would love to see the fight happen but unless Froch ages overnight, It will probably go to a UD to Froch.

    ward is unavailable.
    yeah, that makes sense.
he'd get much more credit than that.

it's a fight that i'd rather he avoid. he's getting on, and can and does take a lot of punishment, not a great combination.

This could be another Arthur Abraham's type scenario. He was a beast when he was at MW fighting smaller guys but when he went up, got beat by the top boys at SMW (wide UD by Froch). Unless GGG cleans out the MW and beats a couple of top ranked SMW, we shouldn't start hyping him up so much.

Understand your point, what I would add is that GGG hits a lot harder than either the MW or SMW Abraham. Pacman went through weights successfully as he has real power in his fists, GGG similar has power way beyond his weight class too.

Carl Froch vs Gennady Golovkin - The Art of War

If they cant make the Chavez Jr fight, I hope this one can come together, although don't know if either man would take it if it wasn't PPV.

As much as people are prepared to give props to Froch if he fought GGG, surely given their respective reputations, GGG would have the edge in respect earned if it happened.

Not that it will as he doesnt want to move up yet.

GGG needs Froch more than other way around, as he hasn't beaten a name anyway near Froch. Froch doesn't need to fight the global dangerman with only probably 1 fight left in his career, so don't know how you worked that out.

GGG doesnt need him at all though. He can stay at MW and clean it out and move up later. He has plenty of time to create a legacy. There is no way he can be accused of ducking Froch at this stage!

Moving up at this time to fight someone as respected as Froch would be a huge step up for him in terms of class given the new weight and Frochs reputation.

Frochs legacy is cemented so yes he would gain a lot respect for fighting GGG, it wouldnt be a career defining win i dont think. For GGG it could be.
