Kovalev gets a ton of credit for beating nobodies up to this point
his biggest win is cleverly, someone who was the biggest target joke on here for the longest time

I can't really say I'm right in this discussion to be honest with you simply because the points you make are just as good if not better. It will all come down to how Hopkins shows up against Kovalev. If he can't use his defense and counter punching without running out of gas and having to give up one attribute then Kovalev will most definitely get to him and hurt him. If he can perform and prove that he can go through a tough training camp in his age and show up like he did against Pascal then Kovalev is getting overwhelmed, frustrated and eventually outclassed.

    We shall see! :good

    i beg to differ
i remember bailey making his all-too-familiar 'leggo blocks' argument for cleverly being "the best LHW in the world" before the kovalev fight

    never heard from him since

I read, I respected and I say, Kovalev can't set Bernard up for a shot and he can't lead himself in so he's wide open to miss and eat leather based on never being at this level of competition. Bernard is going to slip, dodge and duck all those jabs and smash right hands like an ocelot showing that you cannot build yourself with that muscle at this weight class in this sport unlike you have the height and the slickness of Chad or the handspeed and improvisional skill on the fly like Pascal or Adonis or Calzaghe.

You're talking like Sergey has some kinda bodybuilder physique, while he's build pretty slim and looks to have pretty fluid athletic muscularity. No big muscle build anywhere near

Kovalev has flaws in his game that Hopkins can expose. Kovalev does not know how to counter punch and must set his feet to fire. Hopkins will probably keep lateral movement and fire first because Kovalev can't counter for ****.

That's pretty ******ed just because someone has never needed to counter they can't lmfao

Fact is Hopkins hasn't faced a 175 pounder as good as Hopkins since calzaghe

Whenever he's been on the backfoot he hasn't looked great.

Give us an example, also Hopkins doesn't have the energy, power to keep him on the backfoot for any significant period of time

when your in full offense mode and beating on your opponent and he quickly jumps out of the corner or a closed guard with a few swinging hits yes you can be hit, he has shown decent counter punching when he hasnt been all out offense. He hasnt shown good headmovement yet, hes a bit static up top, but he knows his distancing very well.

Hopkins will make it an ugly fight. He will tie up Kovalev a lot. Kovalev seems to cut easy also. If I recall, Kovalev has not gone past 8 rounds or something like that. Hopkins will depend on frustrating Kovalev and tiring him out. Kovalev is better than the past few guys Hopkins has fought. Hopkins will never beat a boxer, ala Chad Dawson. However, if Kovalev boxes, instead of going for the KO, he could have a good chance to win. If he blows his load early, Hopkins could surprise everyone.

I've seen the Cleverly-Kovalev fight time and time again and I say that the guy has no finesse, no smoothness in his punches, specially in his leading shots. Nathan was catching him in the center of the ring cause his arms were slow and he was wide open. Suddenly he started to rotate and taking lead shots but releasing clubbing bombs from either hand. Poor ole Nathan tried to go tit for tat and was caught. Bernard slips all that **** and simply breaks the action when he starts to find his rythm together and demultiplies everything on his face once he's set up. I say the rest of the fights Kovalev has had were not even learning processes, he just blew out no hopers for some drops of sweat. Bernard learned much more to stay out of trouble against Dawson and to pace himself against Joe Calzaghe and of course in winning performances against Pascal, Cloud and Shumenov.

Power is an attribute and aggression is a demeanor. If you're saying those shared qualities mean Kovalev presents no more of a challenge than Trinidad, Echols, Pavlik, Shumenov, Cloud did then you need to dig beneath the surface because there are incredibly significant differences between him and them.
