No offense but I sincerely doubt Saunders could gain 11 pounds between weigh in and fight, then lose it again for the next morning and continue to do this everyday for a week straight without ending up in hospital
Tommy Coyle will beat Gary Buckland IMO. Scott Harrison would also beat Buckland, too tough and clever.
No offence taken but I have seen it happen at amateur tournaments when i coached for the Scotland team and I think you would be surprised at how much weight some fighters are willing to take off to have a size advantage. Taking off that kind of weight catches up with the boxer at some point but if th eboxer is mentally strong enough they can succeed. I was there at the tournament in Finland when he weighed in after his fight 4kg over (he must have lost at least 1 pound during the fight), he then skipped with a full sweatsuit on at the side of the ring for an hour. Maybe this was a reason that he did not keep his strength later on in the tournaments but trust me I saw it 1st hand. I have also witnessed a young Scottish fighter David Ellis from the same amateur club as Ricky Burns boxed for taking off 3.5-4kg every morning for 3 days before it caught up with him in the quarter finals. he boxed at 51kg and it is much harder to take off weight the smaller your body frame is.
Exactly as you said it eventually caught up with him Losing 8% of your body weight everyday and then putting it back on everyday for a week in a major tournament will destroy your body and as you said they got weaker as the tournament went on so it never going to help them in the long run These are ripped guys too it's not as if they have much to lose anyway,
I never at any point said that it helped them mate, I said it happened then you replied saying you doubted it. I just let you know that I personally had seen it happen!! I think you would be surprised at how much even amateurs lose on the scales even at lower levels. Old school trainers that believe that the sauna is a great way to lose weight to gain advantage.
