    What does it matter if Kovalev is the hardest puncher Hopkins has faced?

    Hopkins knows how to neutralize punchers, as he's clearly proven time and time again in the past.

    Lot's of people are going to be surprised how easily Hopkins beats Kovalev comes November.

    I think so.

    Tito was a more accomplished fighter, (undefeated champion), Kelly P. had some pop, but Kovalev made his last opponent (prior to his fight the other night) cry from a body shot, so he pro baly will be the hardest puncher.

    With that being said, Hopkins might mentally break him down.

    Yes, he is the hardest puncher Hopkins has ever faced

    I was at Kovalev-Cleverly & the guy is a freak, so heavy handed its unreal. Every shot that landed just made this dull, booming thud, even when he wasn't loading up.

    That isn't true, he was badly shook up by a Kuziemski right hand iirc

    We will soon find out what Kovalev's all about.
    He seems to cut easily. And his chin is suspect.
    Well see if he around after the Hopkins fight. I am
    picking Kovalev but have a sneaking feeling that some
    one may play a Fury- as this fight gets closer- and backs out.

    In terms of who wins the fight, it doesn't really matter. Hopkins has faced, and beaten, big punchers before. The TS asked a specific question though, and the likelihood is that Kovalev may be the biggest puncher he has faced - the other big hitters Bhop faced were at MW.

    The Campillo comments that were mentioned earlier in the thread are likely to be of more significance in predicting the outcome of this fight however.

    If Kovalev can beat Hopkins it'll be as much to do with his movement, activity level... and yes, boxing ability. Kovalev really can bang, but it isn't just that which keeps getting him the KOs.

    The main thing is tho that this is a fight which should happen... I don't much give a damn which fighter gets the W - I actually think Kovalev beats Hopkins at this point, but merely by taking the fight Hopkins underlines his legacy and if he does win it will be a real statement.
