Why do you always make excuses for white fighters ? Glazkov is just not all the good. I was high on him too but he was exposed tonight.
Too bad he's a coward who won't step in with rated fighters.... Sconiers knocked Wilder on his ass, Glazkov although not a hard hitter by any means would definitely knocked him spark out if he landed flush. I heard Wilder was impressed with Zhang Zhilei's opponent, and is looking to fight him after Gavern.
Schooled? Scott may have won by a few rounds, but it wasn't a "schooling". Wilder and his management payed Scott a good sum of money to throw the fight, clear dive.... No surprise as Scott and Wilder are good friends. Many including myself predicted that would happen, right here on ESB. :good
The punch did not even land on Scott. Wilder is giving Gavern 6 or 7 days notice........................wow, plenty of time to train.................
Not really impressed with Glazkov, and as much as I despise Wilder's career, he would actually have good shot to win, if he ever stepped up. Glazkov was outboxed by Scott, and had Rossy better stamina he would of also won. He struggled with an old adamek who himself is not a big heavy, so far I am still looking for that wow factor with Glazkov. He is was easy to hit tonight, doesn't have elite power and is somewhat slow in the ring. He is taking on good fights, and was a stellar amateur so I am trying to keep the faith but so far color me unimpressed.
Glazkov will never be a serious contender at HW. He's too small. He should drop down to cruiser if possible. And as pointed out, Glazkov got a gift draw against Malik Scott. Beating an old, over-the-hill Adamek (a blown-up cruiser-weight) is his best win--which obviously isn't saying much. Now, Glazkov got a complete gift against Rossy. The underdog won at least 7 rounds. He was the completely dominant fighter. I don't know how people can see otherwise. That one judge is clearly corrupt, bought off by Main Events. Another sad weekend in boxing! (But I love the goddamned sport....)
You mean the fight that was a draw? atsch Laying on the ropes and letting a young prospect plod in and land punches and failing to win the fight does not equal a "schooling"
I agree with many of your points. He's a little small for the modern heavyweight division and his defense is pretty basic , which might get him into trouble against the true sluggers of the division(Wlad, Wilder, Stiverne, Browne, Leapai, Haye). That said, he appears to possess serious mental toughness which may serve to offset his defensive liabilities somewhat. He also possesses a combination of accuracy and pop which makes up...to a degree...for his lack of truly elite power. Except for Wlad, I think he's capable of beating anyone in the division...though his lack of bulk would be a problem against guys like Fury, Takam, Browne and even Tony the Tiger.
Glazkov is still developing... He's stuck in amateur mode it seems, and I just don't think his mind with was him last night. Couldn't let his hands go, appeared to be very sluggish etc. He will definitely be much better 4-5 fights from now, he's working with John David Jackson now, and Jackson is working hard to make his style more suitable for the pros. I think maybe in a year or two we'll see what he's really capable of.
That was a, surprisingly, good fight. Glazkov should have handled Rossy but had a world of trouble instead. I didn't really score the fight but it seemed close enough that a decision either way would have been fine. I may have leaned towards Glazkov, especially with him taking the last few rounds. Glazkov should have won this handily though and his stock has to take a hit by struggling with Rossy. In fairness Rossy actually looked better than I expected him too but no top 5-10 heavy should have this much trouble with him.
