As there are some Briggs fans on this forum, that think he would have KO'd prime Bowe early, lets discuss this fantasy match. Foreman from 1991, 6 years younger than 1997 almost 49 y.o. Foreman. If you remember, in 1997 Foreman, though older, slower and less active than he was 6 years earlier, still had enough in his tank to kick PRIME Shannon Briggs' ass. I scored it 116-112 for Foreman, the case can be made for 117-111, that was big robbery. How the fight would've ended in 1991? I think Briggs starts as always, but Big George easily takes it as he did in 97'. Then he starts to connect and drops Briggs with straight right or uppercut. Foreman by knockout in 7-9 rounds, while ahead on points.
Briggs is horrible, any knowledgable fan knows this. Take away his gift deciscion over an ancient George and his resume becomes incredibly soft. He blitzes tomato can fighters in the first round, but that doesn't work when you step up. He has no plan B and loses. He did fight gamely against Lewis and had moments. Outside of that (and it was a brutal loss once Lewis collected himself) Briggs really doesn't have much impressive scalps. He has personality and good management. He has been able to stay in the public eye far longer than his ability should have allowed.
Was that directed towards me? I am anything but a Briggs fan, i just felt with Briggs being very explosive in the 1st round and Bowe being asleep early in fights, this could lead to some catastrophe on Bowes part :good
of course that a 91 foreman would beat the crap of briggs, it is funny because many people talk about " old" foreman like a single guy. like if 90s foreman was always equal in the complete era... the 90-91 foreman was 6-7 years younger han 97 foreman, he was much more dinamic, stronger, he had solid body(overweight but solid like a rock), not a bunch of weak fat
Foreman wins big. Foreman at 48 in his last fight schooled Briggs, landing 70% of his jabs and 65% of power punches.
