Joe Louis vs Evander Holyfied

Damn tough fight for both men. I dunno. I'd back Louis, but Evander would be a very tough opponent.
I just think that Evander was a bit too easy to hit at times, and Louis was laser accurate. On the other hand, Holy has that cement chin and always fought back heroically when hurt. Also an excellent combination puncher with astonishing powers of recovery and an iron will.

Louis would have to bring his 'A' game to win.

 

holyfield was too brave and it would be a mistake against a sniper like louis, holyfield wa snot the typical heavy puncher who could stop louis with a lucky punch, and i can´t see evander landing complete combinations over louis. louis by tko in 7 rounds

 

evander holyfield was the naturally smaller man here clearly, louis never touched a weight and he weighed 207 in his prime , evander was a rat gym who took roids and hormones and weighed barelly 209 in his peak, and he was packed of muscle, louis was all frame skin and small mass of muscle, louis was naturally bigger, you can see it in his legs(frame), head,thorax... at 24 evander weighed around 187 pounds and louis over 200 pounds. louis was bigger

 

On paper Louis should be a clear favourite. He basically out Holyfields Holyfield in every parameter except durability, and that is partially offset by Holyfields lesser power.

The only way Holyfield can win is if he finds a rhythm to disrupt Louis’s game, which might just happen.

 

I like Louis in this one. Joe's jab and deadly, rapid-fire combinations would be too much for Evander. Joe by a crushing KO.

 

What a fight.

Holy is such a warrior, great fighter. .... But , Joe gets this. This would be a lot like the Tyson fight, but, Joe will keep throwing and landing ,and not gas.

 

Agreed but part of me sees in Evander a man that when hit fights and i don't see him surviving if he traded with Louis too often .. Evander was a rock with a terrific chin and all but no one survives too many shots from Louis ..

 

Actually Louis was the easier to hit of the two. Holy was a good boxer, with speed and the ability to counter as said.

I like Holyfield via decision, but he needs to limit going toe to toe as a tactic to win.

...Holy never knocked out one single world class opponent within 5 rounds, not at heavyweight. Not one.
But he's going to do that to Louis? I don't think so.

And how was Louis ponderous? I cannot fathom why you would say that.
