When did they say Ward would have to come down to 160?
Abel Sanchez has said in interviews that he is not a fan of catch weights and if they fought Ward it would be at 168lbs.
You should know that, but I guess you haven't been following the situation as closely as you should have.

Doesn't look like Ward is going to be fighting anytime soon at 168,160 or any other weight class.

One guy is fighting and raising his profile.
One guy is wasting his prime years in court and can't do anything but talk.
Watch this fight stall when Ward is finally able to fight(2015?2016?)and can't have everything his own way in negotiations.

Ward case sucks, I for one would love to see him fight GGG, I still think Ward win with ease if not by KO....

So if Ward is not an option, and you want exposure, and a huge PPV day and start getting top flight fighter in your resume, then fight Cotto at 154 ...especially if GGG think he can win!!!

    cotto's the 160 champion now
golovkin shouldn't have to make concessions to make a fight with him

it's a terrible thing when even the fans want to make concessions about who fights who, and at what catchweight, just to see the fight made

I always assumed it was the guy he keeps taking to court who was responsible for that.

    :rofl
    Who has Ward KO'd?
    inb4 Chad Dawson.
Dawson got up and told Steve Smoger that he didn't want to continue. TKO
    Golovkin isn't Shelby Pudwill.

ward got his hometown fights because goosen took advantage of ward being 'under the radar' prior to the tourney. that's it.

people need to get over this 'he won't fight out of his hometown' train of thought, which seems to be fuelled by the threat he poses to calzaghe's mantle and the way he beat both froch and Kessler

he should get full credit for the super six, but what a tragedy his career has become since it

It was Goossen's job to get whatever advantages he could for Ward, just like it's K2's job to do the same for GGG.
Same for any other promoter or manager.
Who isn't giving Ward credit for his wins?

Last time I checked, Cotto had one of the titles at 160. So Cotto would not be going up to defend his title.

Also last time I checked, Ward was the one that made Dawson came down. So it is OK for Ward to make boxer go down in weight but himself would not go up (Stevenson or Kovalev) or down (GGG) or away from jokeland, or away from his personnal referee, judges and pharmacist.

It's because your brain has the processing power of a Commodore 64. Cotto and GGG would be fighting for Middleweight titles and the Middleweight lineal title. Therefore, such a fight should take place at what weight? That's right! 160lb. Very good.

For Ward and GGG, it would depend on if a title was on the line. If no title was on the line, a catchweight would be perfectly fair, or they would negotiate a weight. It would probably take place at or near 168.

Catchweights are for fighters in different divisions fighting. Cotto and GGG are both MW champs, and therefore in the same division.
