Larry Holmes was put down from a shot by Shavers that should have killed him, yet he got back up.....but somehow there are still ******s picking Wlad by KO?

gotta go with Larry, but Wlad would put up a good spoil for most of the fight until his chin got checked.

The assumption is that Larry gets hit by Earnie, not gets missed due to lack of skills.

I think his point is that Shavers floored him, so a lesser (but still formidable) puncher like Wlad flooring him is going have the same effect, Larry can take it.

yeh but i fancy wlad to hit holmes more than shavers and can continue hitting you. and he has a better arsenal, but i think holmes can beat him anyway.

I am not sure Wlad would land more. He certainly has a slightly wider range of skills than Shavers but that's not saying much - his skills lie in keeping away and smothering his opposition and facing weaklings (unfortunate and depressing that last one, but true). Wlad would run and jab and clinch like he does which will work for a while, he wont go to war with Holmes even for a second, and that's why he loses. Larry will engage more, and be rewarded eventually with an opening.

    Wlad has no Chin. None.

That's why he fights like a coward vs small fat opponents.

Holmes TKO first time he lands on the button.

    Wlad on points.

Holmes had some serious trouble against long guys that could jab with him. A peaked Wlad is a superior boxer to novice versions of Spoon and the Truth. If Holmes has to make it a brawl, than he's already lost, he'll get in some good body shots but won't be enough to secure the win.

If fought in Germany, with a ref who lets Wlad fall on his opponent's back every ten seconds, then Wlad on points. Anywhere else, Holmes by KO

I dunno, if Wlad tried to lean on Larry too much, that upper cut would knock him the crap out sooner or later.

    Holmes aint no Povetkin.

The difference is that Shavers packs the punch, but doesn't bring much to the table, especially in a comparison to someone like Klitschko. The fact that Shavers managed to connect on Holmes doesn't give Larry too much chances against Wladimir, who has the punch, skills, height, reach and a bunch of other stuff in his artillery. Holmes can survive a punch, but can he survive a beating with constantly getting tagged? Unlikely.
