I mean Johnson as a 43 year old that Froch faced, how would that compare to someone like Omar Sheika?

Also, prior to calzaghe holding the WBO belt it was held by Collins, Eubank, Hearns and Leonard. Not a weak champion there. So to value differently to the other 3 is perhaps inaccurate.

That was the Taylor dominating damaged shoulder, broken Lacy.
Yes Woodhall was a top 5 SMW when Calzaghe beat him, and had a far greater SMW resume and pedigree at the weight, compared to Taylor, who at SMW when he went up for a while ended up at 1-3, with 2 KO losses and one of those to Abraham, and we know his level at SMW. Also didnt Taylor dissapear for a while, one fight after Froch beat him? He did, so that ruins your other point

old glen was a weakling, plain and simple. He would look that on Joes resume.

I think Joe would be happy to defend against 40something Glen, since he ha a proven track record for doing that for particularly dangerous men faded into their 40s,not just the odd one like Froch.

It would be a weakling defence for Joe too.

Noone should really be facing 40somethings as a world champ, with few exceptions.

How was the WBO title any weaker? It was established around the same time as the others and not a new title at the weight compared to the others and Eubank has one of the best SMW resumes ever

Veit has a far greater resume at SMW than Groves, Rodriguez etc whoops. Veit even has a current top 5 LHW on his resume

I also edited the post to include Lacy for Calzaghe.

That being said. Jermaine Taylor was better than Rich Woodhall, yes? Are you saying otherwise?

So you admit it was the same lacy, same prime, same guy. jeff, not another lacy.

And you admit it was the same woodhall who retired physically fcuked. You didn't mean a body double of Woodhall.

Still not admitting your mistakes though...

After Mitchell got up off the canvass, he was not defending himself at all, he wasn't landing much of anything, Joe was hitting him at will and had him stumbling around like a drunk at the point of the stoppage.

The only 40 something Calzaghe faced was someone who later went on to win a world title.

I wouldn't say Johnson would be in Calzaghe's top 10 opponents, but he is in Froch's top ten.

Remember it is resume, not what you think, but factual resume only.

Whatever top win you pick for Froch or Ward, Calzaghe has at least 2 better wins than either, before you go on to the rest of his resume.
    So how is it debateable?
I have only noted Froch and Ward, as they are people of today and

, and S Collins has 2 wins over Benn and 2 over Eubank, so I dont know if I would have Froch or Ward in the top 5 for resume at SMW, even if I think they would do well H2H. This is about resume, and many here dont know the division before the S6 or before Calzaghe beat Lacy.

Lets put any of it to the test.
I would argue that Wards best win is Kessler, and would guess Kessler is Frochs best win also.
Others will say Wards best win is Froch.
Well neither of those wins over faded Kessler or a win over Froch coming off a Mdec over SMW journeyman G Johnson, is as good as beating prime undefeated Kessler without eye trouble.
I would say Wards next best win is Froch, and Frochs, next best win is Bute. Both of those are way behind a win over Eubank, who many fail to note was younger than all of the other beaten opponents noted. In fact Calzaghes victory over prime Lacy, was in my opinion greater than Frochs over Bute, but that is another dispute.
Dawson has no SMW resume and Abraham has not been able to compete at top level at SMW.

    So lets test it out

    Calzaghe beats------------------Ward beats------------------Froch beats
    Prime Kessler--------------------Faded Kessler----------------more faded Kessler

I will leave it there as there is no need to go on, as there is little that I think can be debated, except perhaps the order.

Add Calzaghe has a better SMW win compared to any that you find for Ward and Froch and then you can not only add a better win every time, but also Woodhall, Lacy, Bika (prime), Veit 2 other SMW champs not mentioned that Calzaghe beat, as well as the other top 10 SMWs not mentioned.

Calzaghe beat 3 undefeated fighters that either were or became SMW champs.
Froch beat 1 undefeated fighter that was a SMW champ.
    Ward hasnt done that.

    edit

I didnt put Taylor in for Froch, I dont think Ward has another opponent to put in there, but Taylor at SMW is well below prime Bika at SMW

    At SMW definately.
Taylor has 2 MW wins, both over Hopkins tight at the weight. Other than that, it was a not good showing against a LMW, a draw with another LMW, a SD over a former WW and LMW champ and a loss to Pavlik. some viewed the draw and SD as losses, then at SMW Taylor was 1-3 after that. Woodhall at SMW has a far greater pedigree at the weight and was a solid top 5 SMW with resume to show at the weight

it was undeniably the smaller body of the four. anyone arguing otherwise is lying.

no, but he does have a far greater number of 4-8 rounders. clearly a great resume.... I don't even need to check that on wiki to say it either, its that clear cut.

Perhaps Rodriguez, Wards weakest defence is a good parallel for Joes best ones like Veit, good mention, well done for shitting on Joe there. You did it not me.

some Nazi somewhere has to name the lunk that is Jurgen Braehmer, it has to be said. Wont be long before this devolves into a Hitler slinging match.
and before you loose it - calm down, you didn't mention Braehmer, so you aren't a Nazi.

Where have I wrote any of that?
Lacy damaged his shoulder in the fight after Calzaghe and was no longer with the left hook.
Woodhall retired after, but it wasnt straight after, even though he didnt fight again.
Why duck the Taylor issue, with how he only had one fight after Froch, and then was not active for a long time. Why skip over that?

    One last question.

Was Richie Woodhall a better fighter than Jermaine Taylor? Not a better "smw pedigree". Not a 'more accomplished smw".... a better fighter.

    Who was the better fighter?

he had been backing off for a few seconds after walking through Joes blows. It was a premature stoppage of an opponent too early cherrypicked, no question.

I actually had Taylor 1-1 against Hopkins, I thought he lost the first fight. Other than Hopkins which was a great win, Taylor doesn't have a whole lot.
