    Are you ****ing kidding me?????

Do you even know what the Soviet Union was?

Maybe pay attention to the militarisation of sport in the Soviet Union. I cant believe yuou dont know this stuff as common sense.

I would seriously suggest you stop posting on this topic and move on.

Once again a second hand opinion written with no referencing by a guy who sounds Irish

Seems like you have no proof just a Cold War American mindset, we can leave it at that if you want

Yes John Riordan who is a former International athlete.

They arent "2nd hand accounts". Papers dont get published because of opinion. All of it is referenced like any academic paper.

    Published Academic papers arent "opinion"

Heres more of his academically accredited papers on the subject. http://library.la84.org/SportsLibrary/Olympika/Olympika_1993/olympika0201c.pdf

All joking aside now. You arent actually being serious now are you?

A work being academically accredited doesn't confirm it's validity

I suggest you go down to the reference list on that article and read through them books yourself for proof, otherwise your just wasting everyone's time

You're literally the only person here who will say with a straight face that Soviet Athletes werent full time athletes.

The fact that you dont know that shows OUTSTANDING ignorance.

This isnt some new idea, or me guessing.

This has been common knowledge since the 60s. Its not now, or has it even been a secret or disputed!

You are making yourself seem stupid.

Mine is the commonly held view.

Ive shown academic papers, stating what everyone who has any idea of sports or the soviet unionj already knew.

Its up to you to prove me wrong.

Not really there called amateurs it's up to you to prove that wrong and they also held jobs, so are you going to do some real research and produce some real proof or are you going to keep stalling

Man its obvious you've taken a beaten, and now grabbing at straws. STB provided an evidence that has been peer reviewed and you've done terribly in your attempt to cast that evidence as simply an opinion of the author. Look at some of the earlier soviet amateurs that turned pro, almost all them were former soldiers. I believe the Klitschko brother, and Oleg Maskeave were all in the former USSR military.

Wayne Rooney can call himself an amateur too if he so wishes. We all know its not true.

Same way we all know the Soviets were full time athletes...except you apparently.

Were on about the soviets man don't be trying to change subjects, the Cuban boxers didn't have jobs, as Lara said in an interview they all ended up alcoholics on the streets, doesn't sound like people in full time employment

Wayne Rooney doesn't have a full time job outside football and he also gets paid for football , now your completely losing the plot and still havnt produced any evidence, your wasting everyone's time here, I said I'd gladly say I was wrong if you could show evidence and yet you can't

    Neither did the Soviets.

They'd put on the military uniform for a photoshoot, and thats about it.

You're the one wasting everyone's time coming out with ludicrous statements like Soviet Athletes werent full time and showing no evidence for it.

Like I said, mine is the held view. You're the one coming out with a wacky hypothesis. And you've shown no evidence to back it up

Ive showed peer reviewed academic articles...you've shown...NOTHING
