Race isn't the primary reason FMJ and Broner are not as well liked as some other athletes.

In general people look to fighters almost as almost mythological figures or heroes.

When they behave in a way that is more in line with a villain than a hero of course they become vilified.

Pacquiao on the other hand is more well loved by people of all ethnicities because he plays the role that is socially expected of him in the position he is in.
