Was it though? Lara could have edged it but it was close. Lara's dumbass gave that fight away.

 

ESPN always stirring up controversy. Canelo clearly won this fight. He didn't get credit for a knockdown, he clearly had the body language of the winner, landed the harder cleaner more significant punches. The behind the scenes stuff might have favored Canelo, but it in no way was a robbery.

Mayweather's decision wins vs Canelo and Maidana were imho more debatable than Canelo Lara, especially when you consider the catch weigh (Canelo) and glove (Maidana) controversies for Floyd's fights.

Again, the whole "I landed more punches" has no bearing on if someone wins a fight. Fights are scored round by round and punch stats landed are not evidence of who won. One guy could land 10 powerless jabs and another guy could land one punch and hurt someone. Canelo landed the quality punches. What Altas is saying here is basically he did some of what Mayweather did to Canelo.

Atlas here is criticizing Canelo not using the jab. The jab isn't as effective against a guy with long arms who is trying to jab himself. Floyd doesn't even fight guys who are tall like Lara so you can't even compare it to a Floyd fight. Canelo did the right thing by getting inside and working Lara to the body. Against other fighters, Canelo will probably use the jab more. For this fight he landed the harder punches on the inside and that's why he won.

I really don't like getting too excited on online forums, try to stay respectful. I thought it was an obvious win for Lara, anybody who thought Canelo clearly won either was working backwards from the conclusion "Canelo needs to get the decision, or just fundamentally views boxing differently than a lot of very intelligent boxing minds.

Body work all of a sudden is worth more than sharp, clean right hands to the face? Coincidence that this sudden change in how the majority of intelligent boxing people score fights happens when it benefited the much much more profitable fighter? Please
