There is literally nothing left for Golovkin @ 160. It is dried up. Eubank is the only guy there really and he ain't ready. I've looked at the rankings and prospects. GGG has beaten the best in the div. Quillin is a *****. That fight is never going to happen. Cotto is undersized and won't take that risk because he's aiming for Canelo soon. Golovkin should move to 168 and take on Bute or Pascal in Montreal. Or even take on Kessler or the loser of Dirrell-Bika. Or what about even taking on Andre Dirrell? Point is, there are lots of good challenges for GGG @ 168 and if he stays @ 160 after a fight with Rubio, well, I really think that is a bad career move.
cotto became the MW king by beating matinez, even if it was a faded and broken version golovkin is staying at 160 for that mantle, and all fights become easier to make if cotto antes up

Marvin Hagler was a great 160 lb. fighter and he stayed there. Asking Golovkin to move up is using a double standard. I did not hear anyone asking Monzon to move up either................I don't hear anyone asking Ward to move up to 175 which is less weight than Golovkin moving up to 168. Golovkin will finally clean out the 160 lb. division. Ward has nobody to fight now, so let him stay in court.............................again, Stevenson will fight Ward at 168...................explain why you don't want Ward to fight Stevenson?
GGG should stay @ 160 and establish his name. Eventually he will grab that 'lineal' mw title and have the power to call the shots.
What double standard? I genuinely do not know what you are talking about. I pointed out exactly why I think GGG should move up. It ain't rocket science. You are going off on a tangent about things totally irrelevant to the thread. You want to talk about Hagler, Ward, Stevenson, Monzon? Start a different thread you nut job.
Actually, there are a lot of reasons he should move up and I pointed them out in the very first post. I guess some people would just rather remain oblivious.
I agree somewhat no one presents much of a challenge at 160, but if he does go to 168 he should start slow Kessler, Bika, Groves, Stieglitz, Abraham, then maybe a Ward or Froch if they are still active by then. If he conquers the division too quickly he'll be in the same boat as Ward, king with no worthy challengers, Pascal and Bute have moved to 175 by the way.
With Abel Sanchez stating that he doubts Ward´s marketability, it is clear now that GGG is feared by the idea to take on Ward. I can´t blame him though. As great offense he has, he´s tailor made for a ring genius like Ward with that leaky defense. And he and his team know that.
