Golovkin vs Hagler. Who wins? I expect this thread has been done before, but if it has, I have missed it. I notice alot of hype surrounding Golovkin, when he has yet to fight at the very top level and wondered how highly his fans do think he will go. So how do you think Golovkin would do against a MW great like Hagler? Discuss who you think would win and how you think it would go op
One day we might look back and argue favourably for Golovkin here but right now he isn't proven enough to be considered superior to Hagler imo.
Totally agree. Hagler beat nearly everyone (except SRL) that was offered up over many years. GGG is possibly great but at this stage we do not know. Have to go with Hagler. Other point H to H is that Hagler a great chin and would handle GGG power better than anyone I can think of.
Hagler Golovkin is a fighter that is a standout performer but he simply can't be judged with hagler in a H2H match-up at this time let's wait until he wins the other belts at middle if he can get the other champions in the ring
It could all be that GGG beats him, even stops him. I'll take a better guess at the end of GGG's career. But based on what we've seen so far, I'd have to pick Marvin.
Hagler walked through Hearn's best shots. I like GGG but his best wins are against club fighters in comparison.
prime hagler would beat up ggg, because Hagler could box from either stance and going backwards,, plus he could turn into a monster and walk you down,,, 1. hagler could handle ggg's power 2. hagler is more diversied figher, being able to switch stances 3. hagler would be able to back GGG up, and eventually would move him against the ropes and would be able to unload on GGG 4. hagler is a style nightmare for ggg,, all of ggg strengths will be nullified by hagler, and all his weaknesses would be exploited by hagler,,, 5. hagler is just a better fighter all around than GGG
Too soon for this one. I respect Marvin and he's got too much of a track record for me to pick GGG. Ask again in five years, and we'll see.
hearns came closest to stopping hagler, he hardly "walked through", which suggests he was untroubled. ggg. hagler is 60!
I like GGG but it's too soon for this, wait until his career is over before comparisons can be made with ATG's like Hagler. I will say though apart from all his other attributes that I don't think I ever saw a fighter with a better chin than Haglers, I virtually don't recall him ever being wobbled, and he fought and beat punchers like Hearns, Mugabi,Roldon,Briscoe and Sibson.
