All those duckers .. Cotto, Soliman, Murray, Quillin .. damn, what's wrong with those guys?? Golovkin will have an stay busy fight against Rubio. http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=116364&cat=boxer I won't open a poll cause it is clear who wins that fight.
This is actually a good move for GGG. Rubio is a name fighter, and by beating him he takes the mandatory spot for the WBC strap that Cotto holds. It's all about positioning, and GGG is making the right move to literally put him next in line. This way he not only has public demand, but also mandatory status. Good stay busy decision while Cotto handles his mega payday match up with Canelo. GGG gets the winner of that one!
He doesn't need a mega fight. He is being guided right and this is a good decision to get him in the right position to be the mandatory and next in line against the winner of Cotto/Canelo.
WTF... no he doesn't. A belt holder can't be another organization's belt holder's mandatory. He'd just rid Cotto of his mandatory, no more no less.
Correct. However.... there are a couple potential wrinkles here. One being Cotto has talked about 154, and WBC setting him up there. The other being Rubio is more than mandatory, he holds an interim belt. WBC and WBA met recently about unifying champ per weight. Since Cotto is talking 154 , if the WBC wants to maintain a 160 pound sanctioning fee gravy train GGG is the next best thing with 7 figure purse totals. WBC cant get that anywhere else right now outside Cotto. So it is actually possible the WBC will let GGG fight for some kind of WBC strap or recognition vs Rubio.
Rubio is probably one of the few fighters that can take GGG the distance, so it'll be good rounds for GGG.
Rubio's interim strap is supposedly up for grabs. GGG takes it, he becomes mandatory. Simple as, really.
can some one refresh my memory on how chavez/rubio ended?? i think i remember chavez stopping him but it may have been premature considering its rubio were talking we all seen lemiux almost take his head off to only come back n win the fight. but about the ggg/rubio i like it. but he isnt the one to beat ggg
