OK, I've cruised this site for a few years now and see many similar questions cropping up but hopefully this is a new(ish) one:

If you could wave a magic wand and propose major rule changes to the Queensbury set, what would they be?:huh

Let's have constructive answers rather than $hitting on others already posted please....

    Mine would be:
    1) No wraps and lighter/revised gloves
    2) More rounds i.e. 12+

I'll extend this to weighing in on the ring entrance, though I realise this is not really the 'fighting' rules.

Perhaps people will change the scoring/judging or rematching etc but let's not discuss the weight divisions or sanctioning bodies here.:nono

I want to c 14 rd championship fights. 8 to 10 ounce gloves. Judge's that get demoted for unrealistic scores.

The hand isn't designed for striking which accounts for the untold injuries to boxers mitts and wrists with good wrapping. Head/brain injuries are part and parcel for boxers and the lighter the glove the more impact there along with more damage to the hands. I can't think of anyone in the game who would agree with either.

Your idea about the wraps and gloves is BULL****:-(

I would like to see same day weigh ins, 1-2 hours before fight time..

    15 round championship fights..

peds, drug testing before after fights, using hair samples, you try to cheat or **** with the testing automatic 1 year ban, 2nd offense lifetime ban...

Anybody who is HIV positive NEVER steps into the ring again...

Any judge with stupid unrealistic scores put on 1 year suspension, another shitty job your outta here for LIFE.

Limit your cornerman, MAN im tired of seeing all of these leeches, fake people in the ring before and after fights, just immediate cornermen managers that's it, all of the yes men gtfo of the ring, meet your boss in the locker room after the fight...

Main events need to start at a decent hour, and NOT at midnight eastern time, ****, get the **** on already, why don't we fight on Sunday morning from now on and cut out all of the BS, i don't need to see 20 minute RING entrances, ring introductions, **** all that just get into the ring and fight , i don't give a **** about your music, etc, JUST FIGHT...

With the amount of money these guys are making they shouldn't have a problem with the rules, if you do the go ahead and ***** OUT, and fight in some 3rd World country for a lousy shitty 25 or 30 grand, and don't plan on me buying your fake fight....

Agree with most of what SilverSkull had to say except the starting of fight times are often set up to give the international fans a chance to see the fight, and not limit the show to just a domestic audience. If a fighter has a ton of fans in Australia or Russia, then a decent time needs to be considered for them to watch too. This is important when two fighters are from different parts of the globe and they are deciding how much of the gate or pay per view or television proceeds each gets. Remember when Hatton fought Mayweather, Hatton got the UK share of the money, which was bigger than Mayweather's American piece, but they fought in Vegas, where Mayweather is the bigger draw, etc.

As for the pageantry, the ring entrances, and music, it adds to the spectacle. I don't like it myself, but it does make the whole matter less brutal and if you start taking out all the non-essential bells and whistles pretty soon you have some cheap, amateur looking, unwatchable piece of crap like C-SPAN.

In regards to the PED testing, currently it costs as much as most guys make in a fight. Only the top guys who make six or seven figures a fight can afford it. We'd need a cheap easy way to test for drugs, but anything sufficiently easy and universal would be easily defeated by the richest and most devious cheaters. Unfortunately, you can't make one rule for the lower 99 percent and another for the top 1 percent, so I think we are stuck with things the way they are. Making it a rule that if you can afford it you have to spend the money on better testing is just beating up on the rich and successful.

The changes I'd make to the rules: No Holding. You hold you get penalized. Simple as that. This isn't punch hug. It's boxing. That should also speed things up a bit.

I also wouldn't mind penalties for stalling, and running.

Thanks to all posters so far but I feel the point I made in the OP has been slightly over-looked by some:
"Let's have constructive answers rather than $hitting on others already posted please...."

I think most would agree with this, get rid of the side-show

Yea the fighter should have his trainer, cut man, and manager in the ring AND thats it, you don't need the guy that washes your car on Saturday morning in there, or your yes men that run your errands, all of these clowns in there with all of their fake bling, and wanna be gangstas, are a tired act, they have no reason to be in there...

Ha ha, true. I actually think it adds to the unsafe and uncomfortable 'post-fight' mele which always seems to happen in the ring in big fights.

Most times it's these 'car-washers' that start un-needed ruckus after the fight, trying to be the Big Man, makes the game look unprofessional.

**** on modern boxing (basically save the occasional 'big' title fight)
    1) back to 15 round championship bouts. If you look at past deaths in the ring, it wasn't in the 12-15 round range. And a number of deaths that did occur during that period, the damage occured prior to the 13th.
    2) Weigh in the day of the fight.
    3) I've seen modern fighters in the last 20 yrs. or so have the referee come into their dressing room prior and 'instruct' the ref to watch out for the 'alleged' BS that the other fighter is going to pull??? **** on the prima-donnas! Get yourself together for your battle and go at it. You want your f***ing corner to keep score???
Again, **** on modern boxing with 4-5 'champs' every 3-4 pounds with each new 'division' having about 50 'top 10' contenders???
61 years old, went to get my hair cut at the barbershop with dad and a Ring Magazine was on the table to read while we were waiting. We ALL knew in those days who each division's Champion was and who were the top 10 contenders. Professional boxing is dead for the most part, the UFC BS is TEN TIMES MORE POPULAR and boxing is never going to get it back.
Sorry, wife working today and I'm hitting the Merlot doing my honey-doo stuff.
The above is why I always visit the Classic site; I've got 30-40 hrs. of DVD/VHS bouts from the 20's-80's that can always give me goosebumps.
I'm out, don't want to bore anyone. :D

    1. 15 round title fights.
    2. Same day as the fight weigh-ins.
    3. No more extravagant ring entrances. If an entrance lasts as long as those BS Hamed entrances, deduct a point from him before the first bell.
    4. Adherence to the 3 knockdown rule.
    5. Televised title bouts on live tv.
    6. One champion per weight division.
    7. No hangers on, entourages, ****** Beiber type celebs and no women at all in the ring....as has been said, just the fighters and corner men.
    8. In other words, as much like boxing was in the past, before all this aggravating **** started.
