It could have been a draw or a one or two point victory for either side. Brook was definitely the better boxer, but Porter was aggressive and landing some clubbing blows. Brook was countering decent in the first few rounds and was far better in the later rounds. Porter did himself no favors by being sloppy and smothering his own punches. He also was too aggressive and may have used up too much energy in the first six rounds. It looked like he was loading up too much and hoping to wear down Brook, but it didn't happen. Brook stayed relaxed and weathered the storm. The only negative thing I have to say about Brook is that he held too much. Ref should have deducted a point for all the holding in the early rounds.
:thumbsup Thank you for saying that. People act as though the champion already has points built up before the rounds began. 0 logic whatsoever.
I was merely awaiting the proper promting, but I must say, my feelings on the matter are..... "all Americans are grotesquely obese. actually have worst teeth than the Brits ( 90% have been found to suffer from gum disease) are complete cowards who refuse to travel and fight the best. over-hype a load of garbage and try to cast it down as something special when it's nothing but ****. has a massive failure rate when those hyped up fighters get destroyed. take drugs because they're physically, mentally, and emotionally weak. are stupid as ****. stink of B.O from eating too much fatty foods and not washing every day, and is a country crawling with nothing more than a bunch of loony religious rednecks that have the IQ of a dogs fart"
how can you say being champ makes zero difference? u have to take the belt from the champ!! porter won, but 117-11 come on there is no way it was that lopsided, draw or 1-2 points either way would have been a good decision. it was a close fight.
Nobody kicked anybody's ass. It was a pathetic hugfest. Porter was the aggressor. Brook the marginally more accurate puncher. Both sucked.
The first two rounds all Brook did was hold and not throw any punches. He gave the 12th round away as well. No way did he win 9 rounds. I don't have a problem with the result but I laugh at anyone who thinks this was a clean sweep. If Brook is as good as everyone is saying he should have been able to counter Porter coming inside instead of just tying him up. Brook showed he can't fight on the inside and would get torn apart by Bradley, Pacquaio, and Mayweather. Brook should just fight Khan next since that is a winnable fight before fighting anyone who can beat him (about all of the top welterweights).
It's simple, Porter got outboxed by a dam good boxer who was bigger, stronger and more intelligent than him. He met his match in Brook. Make no mistake, Brook is gonna take the belt back and hold it hostage fighting bums and getting paid in the UK until he's forced to give Thurman a shot and that will be the end of that.
I hope not. Now that Brook finally stepped up and out on the world stage with both feet, hopefully there's no looking back.
Yeah, I hope he doesn't either because he has a decent set of skills and could really make it interesting at 147, although he's pretty big and may have to move up soon. That wouldn't be so bad because there are excellent fights for him at 154 also.
I have literally no idea how anyone can think Porter deserved to win that fight. Some of the posters on here must have been toking that haze when watching the fight because it was clear that Brook won
As Lewis would say, just look at the state of his face. The mauler got mauled. Porter got sent to boxing school in those 12 rounds.
