You talk as if Marciano was in his prime his whole career. I guess in that case Lewis stopping Ruddock in 2 rounds and Tyson still in his prime, but not at his peak failing to drop him in 20 rounds solidifies that Marciano hit harder for his era. I do realise you weren't arguing against this point, but to say Gino was on his feet in the first fight when it was stopped on his feet isn't fair or right. His legs were like jelly crouching down trying to stable himself with the ropes. Like hell was he on his feet, let alone in any state to continue

You imply Rocky was beating on washed up has beens but they all came into fights with Rocky with tremendously good wins. Walcott beat Charles and was genuinely the best heavyweight in the world. Charles beat satterfeild. Moore beat valdes. Even Louis was coming off wins over Bivins and savold. If your going to be like that, Who was Thomas, Tubbs, Holmes beating in the months prior to meeting Tyson??

You are as good as your last fight. If that was a good win your coming in as a good fighter.

Pfp rocky by a mile, his power was not normal for his weight, and he was slow so it was pure RAW power like foreman, but h2h tyson hits harder, 30 pounds OF muscle heavier, plus faster, more accurate and more explosive

He was on his feet not counted out that is not only fair, but true.

"Buonvino was just an ordinary Italian heavyweight."

" It was the first chance I had to bring Rocky to Boston and I put them in a small telephone booth ring in Braves Field, where they couldn't move and had to fight toe to toe.
Rocky figured to knock this guy out easy Buonvino had a bad jaw .But amazingly Gino fought a tough fight and avoided getting nailed until that tenth round when Rocky hit him with a good shot that cut his eye and the referee stopped the fight".

Sam Silverman ,who promoted /was the matchmaker, for this fight and most of Marciano's early fights.

"Buonvino was floored by a left hook to the jaw for a count of eight in the first round. But he came back to give a very good account of himself before the referee stopped the fight in round ten" Box Rec

    I'm stating the plain facts.

Bivins had lost his previous fight to Henry and been kod that year by Moore, he was only 5 pounds above LHvy for the Louis fight.Savold was as washed up as Louis. Charles had won just 2 of his last 4 fights.Lastarza had lost to 179lbs Rocky Jones 14-8-2 less than a year earlier.

Tyson only once stopped a man after the 8th round and when the other guy was still there Tyson made that agreement, Douglas got up in the 8th but took Tyson out after. Tyson started quick but did not have late power like Marciano. Punch for punch both boys could hit, Tyson started early and Marciano built it up gradually but Marciano had shear power and has some clean one shot KO's ....I would not want to get him by either man but I really would hate to be in the ring with Marciano after the 8th round

I'm talking about the "old men" not Lastarza.

Charles blew away Coley Wallace and bob satterfeild back to back. These were his most recent wins and demanded automatic attention since nobody had beaten charles convincingly since before the war apart from Walcott.

Moore was on top of his game. Career wise at his pinnacle. Walcott was the genuine best heavyweight in the world at that time.

Pinklon Thomas, Tony Tubbs and Larry Holmes had not beat rated fighters since before Tyson turned pro. In fact that whole reign only Smith, Berbick, Williams, Tucker and Douglas were beating curent guys. Of those, Only the berbick and WIlliams fights were impressive wins. All the other defences (Bruno, Biggs, Tubbs, Spinks, Holmes, Thomas) were guys coming in against Tyson without world class form in recent fights.

All of Marcianos title fights were against men with world class form.

    Tyson.

Walcott was gassed after trying to close the show the previous rounds. He bounced off the ropes and into Marciano's right. Great timing on Rock's part and great punch. But Rock landed similar rights earlier in the fight that didn't have the same effect.

That's because he was a much better finisher than Marciano and got them out of there early.:good

In his first 46 fights only 7 of his opponents even made it to the 8th round.

EXACTLY!!!! He was a devastating finisher.

Marciano was a bludgeoner. he beat on Moore,Charles ,Lastarza,****ell and Walcott all night before he finished them.
