Out the window is probably not the most sensitive phrase to use in a fight that involves Monzon.

Wow. I don't see Toney having Monzon's ring generalship.

Toney has his moments, but again, Mozon fights 3 minutes a round and picks his shots and changes up the speed of them with great instinct.

I followed Toney when he was at middle and was briefly enamored with him but he really disappointed at that weight. Maybe it was just too much for him to cut. In high school he was a 200 pound quarterback in football.

No one said Valdez was better . What was said is that it would be a very competitive fight . Valdez was also a great fighter.

The usual clowns here have little input of value .. just distort quotes to give them something to regurgitate or split pubic hairs ( if they have any ) to go round and round.

Yes. I was away for a year or more pretty much and now I see there's way too much nonsense going on.

I would not call him disappointing. He still was a a very good middleweight.

But I agree with you that Toney did fought in spurts at middleweight.Monzon would exploit that and win a close one.

Toney was a more complete and consistent fighter at super middleweight. At that weight,he was great.

I think at 160 he struggled to make the weight .. Carlos was a monster with regards to his stamina ... he never seemed to get tired .. that could be a huge factor but in no way do I see this as a mismatch .. very competitive ..

Yes, 168 was a better weight and one where he really shined. As I stated above, he was a 200 pound football player in high school.

Carlos Monzon knew his strengths as a fighter very well and never forgot them while in the ring. As a result, I feel that Monzon was a terrific ring general.

Monzon out lands Toney and takes the decision.
