I didn't check boxrec or anything but I'm pretty sure I remember this patchy guy getting ko'ed by Pavlik. I think GGG may hit a little harder than Pavlik.

Golovkin by a 3rd round KO

Was this before or after Golovkin's goodboy victim ko'd Rubio?

Wasn't KOed but retired on the stool. Though it will be interesting to see how GGG's power matches up to Prime Pavlik. Though I expect Rubio to do better this time than vs Pavlik due to Robert Garcia's involvement.

In hindsight pavliks destruction of Rubio was very impressive. Like pavlik, GGG has a great jab, and hits hard..but is a way better boxer.

That's the fight that has me thinking Rubio has little chance vs. GGG.

Once Pavlik started connecting, Rubio became a bit gunshy and started using
more defense, basically throwing away the only chance he had at a victory.

He is not going to outbox GGG so his only choice, if he wants to try and win, is to go for broke.

WIll be surprised if this fight lasts more than 6 rnds.

Rubio has the right mind frame, he has tripled my interest in this fight with this comment. No one thought he would catch that other wrecking ball Lemieaux the way he did neither. Fact is is like David, GGG's chin is untested and his defense is not the greatest, it will be fun to see if Rubio can catch him something big to see how GGG responds.

Yeah. Golovkins defense appears to vary based upon how much he respects his opponents offense.

Hit him hard and/or early or provide him with evidence that you're a threat and Golovkin is likely to go for attrition - show that you're overcautious or don't bring a solid punch and he'll look for the early KO.

That said I still think that GGG went in trying to prove something against Geale - whether for his dad, or to himself or the outside world that he hasn't lost a step.

GGG measures his opponents in the ring. He has to figure them out for himself - this is why you rarely see the 1st round KO from GGG, he ain't gonna open up unless he's confident he ain't in danger.

Rubio might give him enough to give him pause, but in the end all it'll mean is Rubio lasting through 7 or 8 rounds instead of 3 or 4 - and I say this as someone who respects Rubio as a solid MW. Rubio has good power and a decent chin but is simply outclassed in this fight.
