Is Algieri's win over Provodnikov better than any single win Maidana has had?

While Maidana resume probably outranks Algieri's, who's best win is over Ruslan Provodnikov is it fair to say his best win outranks Maidana's best? :think

Maidana has been in with good fighters but lost to the four best fighters he's been in the ring with.

After that he's beaten two of the biggest hype jobs in many of generations in Ortiz (who was largely unproven) and Broner (who had jumped up 2 weight classes and only had one extremely unconvincing win over past prime Malignaggi), tough serviceable gatekeepers like Soto-Karass and Lopez, and a well past their primes Morales and Corley, and the unbeaten at the time but average Victor Manuel Cayo.

It is fair to say Algieri holds a better "best individual win" than Maidana. Although I think much less of Broner than most do, I will say that his resume is notably better than Provodnikov's, so it's not completely out of the realm of possibility to feel that Maidana's domination of Broner is better than Aglieri's razor close victory over Provodnikov.

(and if you are one of those many folks who scored it for Provodnikov, then obviously you won't agree that Algieri has the "better single win" than Maidana)

    Why?

Provodnikov is overrated but nowhere near overrated as the likes of Broner and Ortiz are (or were)

Had Maidana beaten Broner at Lightweight, this wouldn't be a question.

    Broner resume >>>>>>>>>> Provodnikov resume

It's because Broner had recently moved up 2 whole divisions and struggled with Paulie to win the belt in his first fight at WW. The weight and size is what makes this debatable. But one could probably argue winning 6 or more rounds over Paulie is better than beating Provodnikov by 1 point on the scorecards. Which would mean that Broner's win right before Maidana destroyed him is arguably better than Algieri's win over Provodnikov.

If we go off robberies or controvesial fights then Maidana's win over Broner isn't really that good.

Why? Because he'd have one loss back when he was a green super novice and another against a still-ranked Ponce de Leon in his first step up in class, also years ago now? OK.

And Quintero, and Paulie, with no wins above 135.

Yes it is, I agree, he beat Ruslan more definitively than Herrera and Bradley, which is quite an accomplishment

Except that you continue to look like a blind foolish hater for mentioning Paulie as a robbery in every thread you possibly can when the majority of viewers scored it for Broner (Paulie has been one of my all time favs for years, I scored it a draw, and even I came to terms with this the moment the decision was read).

As for Quintero, I mentioned that. Back when Broner was a green novice. It's not that big of a deal to lose an odd fight like that on your way up even if he had. Why is it all of a sudden a huge monumental deal for Broner that would harm his resume in ways that it wouldn't harm others'? That is bias, Hans.

I don't rate Provo that highly.

He is on the same level as a Lopez for me.
