I know it's very late to be asking, but does anyone have any suggestions for hotels/hostels/B&B's for the night of the Frampton fight ? No one try to get me killed either !, I'm hoping to watch Tipp win an All-Ireland the next day
You could try the one at balmoral on blacks road....called The Balmoral Hotel. Near Balmoral showgrounds...it's not walking distance, but all the nearby ones likely will be full or extortionate prices.
Watched Quigley's 2nd fight there. Nothing great but not that bad either. He tried to hard for the ko but not like it was particularly bad I thought. Maybe some people hyped him up which is why others were expecting more. He was a great amateur. We don't know how far he will go as a pro and these aren't really the type of fights that would give us that much insight either. Will take 5 or 6 fights before we see a step up.
I overreacted a bit calling his offense sloppy, it was actually neater than Nevin's. Both of them should really be looking more polished, though, considering their great amateur backgrounds. Blaming it on eagerness to impress only holds so much water. At the end of the day they have loads of top flight experience in the ring and just shouldn't have to look that ungainly no matter whether their goal is to knock a guy spark out without headgear for the first time.
Looking forward to seeing Ward go into the traditional pros after the next olympics. Can see a guy like him, Irish, with an exciting style going down well in the states and drawing a good following
some good video's of Steve Collins, Phil Sutcliffe, Steve Collins Jr, Buglioni and Sean Turner on the pads on www.irish-boxing.com lads. Some interviews and news too
Cheers for the advice, I ended up just booking a B&B. Now just to sort a ticket for the AI hurling final ! Any word on who O'Kane's opponent might be ?
