Is the welterweight maidana really better than the 140 pound version?

Its widely thought now that since robert garcia has come on board maidana is a much better fighter, but simply as a welterweight compared to light welterweight is he actually better. He wasnt a big 140 but now hes even smaller at 147, his resume doesnt tell much he lost close fights to kotelnik and khan , he edged the coming to the end of his career erick morales in a tough fight, he knocked out ortiz and beat de marcus corley, since moving to welter he was shut out by alexander, knocked out soto karass a decent fighter but basically a journeyman,he knocked out joseito lopez another fighter of a similar level and then beat broner. Its hard to tell where broner is exactly with one questionable win at welterweight before being ud by maidana. He gave mayweather a great fight but lost but is regarded as a top welterweight his next fight after mayweather should tell us more but do people belive he is a much better welter?

I don't believe i've evet heard anybody suggest that Maidana is better at 147. He looked like **** in his first WW fight with Alexander. He's only started to look better since hooking op with Garcia.

The actual version has troubles not gassing in 12 rounds, is chubby and even slower. While still staying weak and having no pop in his punches.

I don't think there's been much change to be honest, and the change that has occurred has been exaggerated, like most things in boxing. He's still the same one dimensional, come forward slugger he always has been - he's just a little bit more refined in being a one dimensional, come forward slugger. He still has no clue what to do when his opponent is boxing, instead of standing and trading, and becomes frustrated. I kind of view Maidana as a high level gatekeeper, a guy who weeds out who have it and who don't - a little bit harsh maybe, but you get the jist of it.

His Jab is soooo much better, and he just seems to have a bit more ring smarts, even though is is still come forward and wild.

IMO his is a much better fighter.

He still brings the heat as he did at 140, but he looks slightly more polished (cant believe i just said Maidana and polished in the same sentance!)

He sets up his punches a lot better, his offense has improved as before it was "I'll keep throwing the overhand right and hope one lands". He was a dangerous fighter at 140 and is so at 147, beatable yes but a very dangerous fight.

If he had Garcia when he was at 140, he would have been even better so i will say the 147 version is better but as Maidana himself says its because of Garcia giving him small improvements to an already dangerous offense.

I also share the same opinion that i don't understand the people who don't see the improvements in offense and even defense to a certain point, that part of his game will always be his weakest but even that has improved.
