Rubio acquitted himself quite well in the Chavez fight, it was far closer than most of the judges scores indicate.
And Cotto probably too in Lee. Rubio did much better though. Hard to find anyone who's willing to fight that isn't a "leftover" in the MW division, same as it's hard to find a fresh one in the werterweights. So it's a mute point.
Best to WIN the interim WBC title, then force the mandate and if Cotto ducks it, he's delegated to Emeritus. Then the WBC will present GGG and opportunity to fight either Lemiuex or possibly Mora for the WBC title. He would make that fight easily as both Lemiuex and Mora would be easy to negotiate with considering the 500K+ paydays they'd be earning. With Lemieux, we'd get a super exciting fight while it lasted, and GGG would get tagged by maybe the second hardest puncher in the division. VS Mora, GGG would be forced to impose his jab and work almost exclusively to the body, as Mora is something of a tough target upstairs, expecially when he's working the potshot to perfection.
I don't like Chavez but even Froch is having a hard time getting a fight with him because of Chavez's Promoter and he is probably offering him way more. The Rubio fight makes more sense it leads to Cotto.
Chavez doesn't want to sign an extension with Top Rank, and Bob's dangling the GGG and Froch fights over his head until he does. He should go the Mayweather route and simply buy out his contract now, then fight whoever he pleases. He's a big enough name that he doesn't need Bob's backing anymore to attract top opposition.
Your point is moot. WW is a competitive division whereas MW is a ghost town. Rubio is a shitty opponent for a 22 y/o...... let alone a 32 year old EIGHT year pro...expecially when you consider the 32 y/o just fought Adama and Geal. ggg is one of those guys that isn't required to "take risks" and "challenge himself"
Rubio makes no sense at all dude. C'mon now If ggg is supposed to be the real deal you should expect a LOT more from him. Rubio would be called a bum if Cotto were fighting himdeal:deal
