Crawford was always going to be a tough fight Beltran I thought would be tough but expected Ricky to get through it but we all know what happened there it could have been down to the injury but I'm not going to use that excuse and Gonzalez showed great skills to be up in that fight but when it got to the championship rounds and Ricky started to fire back Gonzalez lost heart and didn't want anything to do with it after almost being snapped in two with a body shot from Ricky.

Say what you want about Ricky he may not be the most skilful guy out there but the guy has heart and bollox.

How on earth can you say a guy whos fought 10 world title fights is mentally weak?
Honestly mate you need to have a serious think before you hit them old buttons:patsch

I really don't think the amount of World title fights you have been involved in can tell if you are mentally weak, there have been loads of world champions that can be blamed for being mentally weak ie Victor Ortiz, Devon Alexander, Mike Tyson, Andrew Golota, Oliver McCall to name a few.

Personally I don't think Ricky is mentally weak but maybe not as strong mentally as he was before the broken jaw, in that fight you can clearly see him distressed and it looked like he told you in the corner that he couldn't continue.

You managed to keep him in the fight that night and hold on to his title but I fear that although he didn't get beat that night something was taken away from the Rickster and I fear we will never see him as the old gritty Ricky burns.

You might have a different opinion on this Billy mate an dI would like to hear your thoughts.

In fairness David if in any way you were mentally weak you wouldn't fight on with a broken jaw, we can only imagine the pain he was going through and he showed great courage to see the fight through, at no point did Ricky indicate to me that he was wanting out that is what Rickys all about, has ive said before without the Ricky would have beaten beltran handily.

You'd need to ask the promoter why these fights never happened, Ricky was getting 10,000 in the SECC so realistically any fighter could have been brought over.
Weaknesses in the Carson fight and ive seen him wobbled before and dropped in Wales years ago, all against non world class fighters that's why I thought hed struggle, but please lets face it Porter hardly produced any kind of performance on the night.
As ive said Kell won the fight great stuff :good

so he is mentally weak because he did not prepare right for the jones 1 fight got a broken nose saw the fight to the end and won also was dropped once in wales ,
yet your adamant khan is mentally stronger than brook and imo porters performance was better than burns in the gonzalez fight

just think how you think brook is weak then ask your self with the same thought process how is khan mentally strong

If you read my post properly mate you will see i said that i didn't think Ricky was mentally weak but he might not be as strong now after he received the broken jaw!!

I just remembered when I watched the fight around the end of round 9 or 10 him telling you his jaw was ****ed and you telling him he was the champ and he would have to fight on with it. Ricky looked distressed n the corner and although he might not have asked straight out imo he was giving you the choice. I'm also sure you told him on more than one occasion to stop feeling sorry for himself.

One of Ricky's best attributes was his toughness and ability to grind out wins, if the injury has taken any of that away then i fear Ricky might be on the slide.

This is nothing to do with what you have done for Ricky but anyone who has suffered a really bad injury like that needs to be able to forget about it when they resume their fighting career but imoi it looks like when Ricky gets hit clean he doesn't want to take the chance that it might happen again. I hope i'm wrong mate

David I think saying you just need to forget the injury would be easier said than done mate, especially that type of injury being a boxer
