this fight s fairly realistic now the thought of its crazy when you think about both guys in there prime
i thought 140 woulda been his prime, still jermaine fought at 168 not too long ago fought guys now at light heavy weight, not too many people would have belived that this could have been a realisctic fight
Cotto is just too small for Taylor. Taylor had victories over Hopkins and that's saying something. But I may be judging too soon. Let's see how Cotto fares against today's Middleweight first.
Who wouldve thought 8 years ago that Taylor who just beat Hopkins twice at 160 would be in the same division as Cotto who was at 140 8 years down the line, madness. Taylor could jab Cotto to death if he isnt totally shot
Unfortunatley Taylor looks finished it is sad. I watched the Taylor- Nicklow fight and he couldn't even stop that guy and he was right in front of him the whole fight. Taylor started to foul this guy for no reason but utter frustration. The fight was stopped because of a punch in round 8 which Nicklow backed up but was in no way hurt. It's like the ref just couldn't bear for it to go on. Nicklow afterwards wasn't even hurt.
Size don't mean **** esp if the bigger fighter is shot to ****, Pacquiao-Delahoya or Cotto-Martinez ring a bell? Cotto would blast thru Taylor. That Taylor was a very good fighter 160-168 that's yesterday's news. Taylor is far, far from his best days while Cotto can still pull that trigger.
Its hard to decide how prime Taylor would do against many top MWs, because he had 2 wins over a top MW in Hopkins, but after that never looked good again. He had a nothing fight against a LMW, had a SD win that some felt he lost to a LMW and WW champ, drew with a LMW and lost to Pavlik. Knowing how Spinks did with Taylor, I wouldnt necessarily pick against Cotto
prime taylor had loads of talent he gives anybody a tough fight, havent seen him recetnlybut surely hed beat cotto?
i'm a big cotto fan and i think its great he won the title over what little martinez had to offer that night but lets not get carried away. cotto, the mw champ version, gets the **** kicked out of him by prime martinez, pavlik, taylor, hopkins...i don't think its even close and cotto probably gets retired. that said, prime for prime isn't a realistic fantasy fight at all.
Doesn't say much for the 160 lb division if cotto has managed to pinch a belt at this stage of his career or perhaps it says more about the various sanctioning bodies as the best middleweight can't get cotto to step in a ring with him
how is it fairly realistic when the golovkin-rubio winner will be his mandatory and cotto will likely vacate to face canelo after a tuneup?
