There is no doubt in my mind that Hopkins would have beaten every fighter that participated in the super 6 not named Ward. Stylistically everyone one of those fighters fights the way Hop prefers his opponents.
Non of them except for Dirrell and Maybe Ward is exceptional fast nor throws insane amount of punches, which are two of the recipes for beating Hopkins. Hopkins I seriously believe would have done a Pavlik on Abraham, Froch and Kessler.

In fact I believe a fight between Ward and current Hopkins is not a mismatch that some people try to make out to be.Though I favor Ward, I won't be surprised to see Hop scrap a win over Ward in a very competitive fight.

    Discuss.

I would love to see Hopkins-Froch right now. With that said I think Dirrell and Ward would have given him the most problems.

Are we talking about if they moved up to 175 for Hopkins? Hopkins' 170 catchweight spot? Or what?

Hopkins appears disinterested in smw. HE didn't grow up with it, so its logical to assume that he disregards it as a lesser division.

He lost to Jermain and would lose to Dirrell too because Dirrell won't fear getting KTFO.

Hop did call out both Froch and Kessler. I believe he also showed interest in Bute, a fight which Showtime said there were more interested in than Froch vs Bute.

This ^. Hopkins had long been a LHW but also an influential figure in the sport by the time of the super Six. If he'd had any interest in the Super Six he could probably have competed, even at 168.

IDK - Tough to call, Pascal was beaten reasonably convincingly by Froch which took Bernard 2 fights even at the higher weight. For all that Hopkins' career is magnificent, his LHW career is hardly littered with top victories, and his best win in years has been the same Pascal that was beaten by Froch.

Make no mistake, I've nothing but respect for Hopkins, but he moved into a relatively weak LHW division and failed to dominate (whilst still being competitive at the top level).

Who did he beat? The same Pascal beaten by Froch and moving up? Murat, Cloud, Shumenov? All beaten by Campillo.. which shoulda given Bernard all the clues he needed.

How he would have performed at SMW is pure speculation. I would assume he'd be close to the top of the pile, just because, well it's f#kkin BERNARD HOPKINS, but I just ain't sure.

Beating Pascal at the second attempt isn't quite enough to retrospectively crown BHop runner-up or winner in a round robin in a different weight class IMO.

Beating Kovalev and/ or Stevenson and adding another strap to his LHW resume would be a magnificent achievement though, and despite being a Kovalev fan, there's gonna be at least a part of me who would enjoy the Hopkins win.

Froch might, Taylor did... Dirrell absolutely had the talent but I've a feeling Hopkins woulda... well - used his 'experience' to beat Dirrell.
