How is Taylor even sanctioned to fight Soliman?

Looks like Taylor and his cousin have one thing in common......both are shot!

Well the judge allowed him to travel states to train and fight.

Maybe his first defense will be in prison!

 

That's my thinking. They realise they made a mistake with not getting Geale a bit of US exposure before he fought Golovkin (this was probably the purpose of holding Geale - Barker in the US but it kinda backfired. And anyway Barker wasn't ever a big enough name in the US anyway, but at least Geale woulda brought a belt if he'd won).

To casual fans in the US Taylor still retains enough name recognition to boost Mundines credentials if he wins and to feed Taylor to Golovkin if he wins.

The only problem is if Taylor pulls off the win (and I actually think Mundine takes it - he's a lot better than given credit for) and then gets hit with his 'GO TO JAIL' card. Once again HBO will be casting about for a 'big name unification' no matter how pitiful a GGG - Taylor fight would be.

Of Course the alternative hypothesis provided by Vysottsky may hold water.

Guess we'll just have to see how it plays out. The latter theory seems a little risky though, with Quillin's strap still up in the air due to the Korobov mando, though I suppose it still leaves at least one Haymon fighter with a strap if things go to plan.

Incidentally Vyts - do you have details on the Soliman - Taylor purse? He coulda done well in $ terms for a Golovkin fight also, and though you might claim he's being set up, it's hard to imagine his promoters aren't perfectly aware of the risks involved in fighting in the US whichever opponent they choose to face.

EDIT. Having just read up little more it does seem that Haymon has exercised some pull in getting this fight made. As ever his motives are a little opaque, but if you follow the money I'm guessing it's aimed at bettering his fighters and stable (and therefore profits - I ain't criticising him for that). Best of luck to both fighters, but I'm leaning towards Vyts theory now.

My bad. I was reading a thread about Mundine on either here or 'scene at around the same time.

Hope my Oz friends will forgive, and I wish him all the best against Rabchenko, but I've a feeling things might not go so well for Anthony.

why not give matt korobev or david lemieux (sp?) a shot at soliman??? either guy more interesting fight then taylor these days
