Now people are even biased for Showtime announcers, I like Jimmy but on his best day he's no Buffer, add to that the fact that he never shows any modicum of emotion about the fight, it makes the viewers less enthusiastic.

Announcing the fighters' name twice used to be common, watch some of the early Mike Tyson's fights for example.
And I've seen Buffer screw up reading the scorecards, Adamek vs Cunningham 2 IIRC.

    Buffer Interview:

    Source: http://www.maxboxing.com/news/other...r-was-1st-to-say-its-showtime-over-20-yrs-ago

    Excerpt:

DT – Have you ever made a mistake by announcing the wrong winner?
MB – Actually, I made a mistake once. It was on an undercard fight, not on TV, it was in San Antonio, Texas. What happened was it was one of the early fights on a card where you have somebody with a lopsided record, maybe a local star, and they bring in an opponent who is not necessarily going to win but without naming names the fighter who had the winning record, something like 19-0 with 17 knockouts and his opponent was 4–15, very insignificant stats obviously. I did the introductions and sat down and was going over my notes for the rest of the evening. I heard the crowd explode and a fighter falls down and counted out and without looking to see who it was, I thought that was quick. I got up and got the time from the referee and I just assumed it was another victory against a guy who was a toe tagger and I’m giving a big introduction, ‘The winner by Knockout Victory’ and I’m starting to name the fighter who came in with the great record and a voice behind me said, Mr. Buffer, it’s me, I’m the winner. Here’s the guy in the Chuck Taylor sneakers and the borrowed boxing trunks that scored the one round knockout.

A few years ago in ft worth tx ,a card that was televised on the old USA tues night fights, Mike Buffer welcomed everyone to a "Night of Championship WRESTLING" Rofl
Later on he announced Paulie Ayala , later WBA bantam & jr featherweight champ, as
Paulie Ayala the NABF HEAVYWEIGHT champ. Paulie laughed afterwards saying If I was a HW Id be making more $$$ than I am now lol

Yes! That night Michael Buffer forgot to say the "Are you ready to rumble?" at the right moment. Before leaving the ring, he did say it but that didn't had the same impact and it was pretty akward.

Exactly that night! it was only the beginning of a really akward and strange fight...

Announced Khan-Peterson as majority decision instead of split.

i've heard Buffer mess up a few times. i can't remember the fights specifically where he done it though.

nothing comes to mind for Lennon though. to my mind, he's got it right every time.

I once saw Buffers kid brother make one in the UFC.

    It's a tough business.

I remember Buffer messing up the the scorecard. He actually named the wrong fighter as winner.

When an announcer today say the fighters last name twice I think that is an homage to older times when they didn't have as powerful speakers as we do now. They said it twice so that all would hear.

Paulie Ayala only fought once on USA Tuesday Night Fights. Ayala was an up-and-comer when he fought, nowhere near being a champ at that time.

ROFLMAO You guys amaze me I was with Paulie throughout his career yet you know more about him in your little minds. Who said Paulie was fighting to be honest I forget who was. Ft Worth is Paulie's home town that's why he was introduced. He was NABF champ at the time . Now please go find something else to do lol

Buffer always pronounced Erik Morales with a double r, you could tell it'd get on El Terrible's nerves, but then no one ever bothered to correct him.
