Seriously. Can you ever remember a touted Olympic fighter facing "opposition" this pathetic for THIS long??? :huh Wilder is a fraud. There is a REASON he has been fighting this level of fighter for so long!!! And knowledgeable fans know what it is!!!!
To be fair, there's no one good enough in this crap division anyway. The fact that his first step-up is the WBC champion says enough.
It's true, there are not alot of top flight HWs out there, but there certainly is a level between the fighters Wilder has faced and the top ten. He's faced one halfway credible fringe contender, Malik Scott - who folded like a house of cards, in a fight some say was fixed. I doubt that was the case, but Scott sure didn't show up to fight. There are, however, several other of these mid-range opponents Wilder could have faced who might have given him a fight - and some valuable experience. That he did not do this, imo, speaks volumes.
He's still fighting the WBC champion in his first step up and the fight being postponed due to Stiverne's injury isn't his problem. Wilder decided to remain active rather than stall and it was a better choice, even if his opponent isn't on the level you wish for him to be.
Before he fought Malik, they were talking about Malik was going to KO Wilder and how he was going to present a huge problem for Wilder After Wilder knocked him out in less than a minute in the 1st round, suddenly everyone claims that Malik was never that good, was garbage, took a dive, etc. It's ridiculous! I don't see how anyone can blame him for fighting Gavern It was STIVERNE who suffered an injury and prolonged the fight, not Wilder. Either 1. Wilder just waits for Stiverne and does nothing Or 2. Wilder waits for Stiverne and while waiting, fights someone else. He chose 2. The better choice.
Which occupation will Wilder choose his next opponent from? His most formidable opposition so far has been Audley Harrison and Charlie Zelenoff.
What's ridiculous is Wilder's people thinking they're fooling anyone by facing all these cans for all these years. Knowledgeable boxing fans recognize that when managers pad records this way, there's usually a reason for it. That it has been going on for this long in Wilder's case indicates his management doesn't think much of his potential competitiveness against top opposition.
Wilder is currently the #1 WBC challenger And he WILL face Stiverne and beat the breaks off him Stiverne and Don King will very likely find a way to either 1. Pay off Wilder or 2. Pay off Wilder :rofl
It is probably too much to hope that it would be boxing. Maybe at least a physical occupation? Construction worker? Gym teacher?
I don't know, there are a lot of gullible and easily brainwashed fans out there. Look at guys like Broner, Berto, Ortiz etc who get shoved down the throats of the blinkered public by HBO, Golden Boy, Showtime etc, and how they are proclaimed as the absolute truth on here by fans. Knowledgeable boxing fans know how to separate the hype job from the genuine article. A recent case being the knowledgeable fans on here knew Brook would beat Porter a couple of weeks back, the boxrec warriors and Max Kellerman twitter followers thought Porter would win easy. As you can tell by Wilder defenders on here- they still don't learn their lesson.
How about a concrete installer? They spent a lot of time on their knees and they are just as in shape as any of Wilder's ex-opponents.
