Hi flea you back on here proper now I see this as a distance fight in that I am not confident Enough to be positive to say that I definitely see Carlos forcing a stoppage and if he does not until the old style championship rounds . Blocker is gonna be brave when he needs to and he will , he can take his lumps like a man but brave as he is palomino will have enough to be the boss in say 10 of the 15 if it goes the distance
I used to train at with Blocker for a short bit at Fraziers. Super nice guy and helpful. Palomino by late KO
In my minds's eye i can not see a tiring Maurice's Gangly physiognomy coping too well with the customary late drive of Carlos, I see a Nasty unhinging Left Hook in Maurice's post 12 round Future, Some Clinging like a shipwreck victim to a bit of Driftwood only delays the inevitable for a half a minute or so, With Maurice doing a fair impression of Bambi on the Ice....The Ref calls a halt... Carlos was a very good 15 round fighter.
Yes he was and all without a conditioning coach. Makes u wonder wats going on with today's fighters who gas by the 9th round.
Carlos here in the championship rounds. Maurice had some nice wins but only when he dictated the terms throughout the bout, at a distance and inside his pace. I don't think a prime Palomino allows this for too long. Kudos for Mr. Butt digging up some more obscure, non heavy, match-ups.
Hi Robert What was it with the Carlos's and Great Stamina Ortiz, Monzon, Palomino they seemed to come alive after the 10th !
A couple things come to mind. I remember when fighters used to go away to camp for 3 months instead of the two that most of the fighters in the last twenty or so yrs do. A greater emphasis on running was done also. A lot of the newer generation fighters spend more time circuit training with a S&C coach. It seems like if it ain't broke don't fix it should apply to boxing training but it doesn't. I remember how Bennie Briscoe worked a full time job with the Phila sanitation dept. Yet he never sat down between rounds. Arguello would skip rope up to an hour strait and Hagler ran 10 miles daily in camp. That kind of training isn't done anymore and it shows.
Yet you'll still have that same gang of idiots claiming the sport has evolved. As if time is all that is required for something to evolve.
