Joe Gallagher, whats your opinion of him?

Did Gallagher give any interviews after the Sturm-Macklin fight.
I didnt see any - normally after his fighter getting robbed a trainer would be screaming "robbery" at the top of his voice.
Did he speak up for Macklin at all?
Maybe he did and I missed it....dunno????

 

You have to be careful when your listening to other peoples opinion on someone as its usually loaded in some way.

Also different interpretations can be held on the same examples, i.e some could interpret Joes actions as a camera hugger only interested i pushing his own ego. Whilst others are saying hes doing the best for his fighters and is making sure his voice is heard.

I went to where he trains his fighters once and met the bloke. The little meet i had i came away with the impression that the guy was ok. He is the boss in that gym and thats how he runs his fighters thats how he choses to run a gym and the fighters know that and yet they stay with J.G.

Hes got the largest amount of quality fighters in the u.k at this time so i think it gos without saying that hes a well rated trainer. But joe the personality..? Like i said the one time i met him i thought he was ok. I know what others say but ime the guy is ok.

 

I actually enjoy listening to his opinions. He's far more knowledgeable than me and he's currently involved in the sport so why not.

Albeit talks waaaaaaay too much ......

He's an interviewers dream, ask him 3 questions and get a 25 minute interview.

Anyone find it strange he don't train any black fighters not saying he's racist just strange...as for his ability as a trainer well he's garbage fighters all fight one way and predictable.....Cullum being the acceptation because of his years spent with team GB

 

49-0 is worth nothing if you don't have a world champ in there. Joe didn't.

All the lads I know who were trained by Brian Hughes have passed comment on Scott Quigg's lack of head/lateral movement in his last few fights (these lads have known Scott since he was a kid) which Brian had taught Scotty from the age of 12 (though to be fair Brian Hughes MBE is a legend and in a totally different league to Joe) and most feel that Scotty, fighting the way he has recently, loses to Frampton as a result.

I also feel that Jolly Joe's tactics almost blew the Salinas fight (they were truly appalling).

Joe is an excellent conditioning coach, but he tends to try and make roughhouse fighters out of boxers, whereas a great trainer would amplify a fighters strengths and address their weaknesses, and in some cases create a style that was almost exclusively tailored for them (Brian Hughes was famous for this).

All in all, Joe is an okay trainer, but nothing special.

Joe is certainly not the trainer for Quigg, but it's Scotty's choice.

 

For a man who is so appallingly bad at training it does make you wonder why he has the best stable in the country. :huh

 

Lack of other decent trainers in the UK?

Most decent fighters being from the surrounding area?

Fighters making the gym, as opposed to the trainer being the appeal?

Fighters who are suited to Joe's (rather limited) style repertoire?

Speak to any of the lads who were trained by Brian Hughes and they will give you a far more informed assessment on Joe's training capabilities.

If I come across as not being a fan of Joe's, i'm not! And I do feel that the fighters he trains are successful mainly due to their talent and I doubt he has improved any of them a great deal!!

 

Contentious when you look at in terms he has a belt from the same organisation as Rigondeuax at the same weight plus the belt was handed to him , ill wait to one of Joes guys wins it in the ring 1st
