Listen to what Lampley and Merchant say prior to the fight. It's all in the first 60 seconds.

    Thoughts?

He was judging Golota's jab based on the Bowe fights. In that fight Golota's jab looked faster, snappier and more powerful than Lewis'. But Bowe has always been easy to hit, it's not hard to land the jab against such an open and stationary target. Also Bowe's jab has always been overrated, just see Holyfield's success with his jab in their 2nd fight, can you ever imagine Holyfield matching Lewis jab for jab?

Golota's jab was very good in terms of speed and snap but placement and timing made Lewis' better.

That's quite some pawing Lennox does.

But like Brighton said in the previous post, it's often how a guy's jab looks against wich guy.
If you would base Ray Austin's jab solely on the Stiverne fight, you would place him in the same ballpark as Larry Holmes.

larry holmes doesnt rate lennox's jab

perhaps larry has high standards seeing as he had such a great jab, or perhaps thats just the competitiveness coming out

but i think lennox has a great jab

If only that fight happened before the Bowe fights, which had clearly left Golota mentally and physically dented. Anyway, both had an amazing jab, much better than everyone in HW today bar Wlad.

Excuse me? Bowe was a fat pig for the 1st fight. Got his ass kicked & decided to get in shape & lose a lot of weight for the rematch. Probably lost all that weight by doing a few onces of cocaine.

    :yep

And even though Bowe was in much better shape for the 2nd fight, he still got his ass kicked again!

Going in to that fight, we'd seen Golota have massive success against Bowe with his jab, and we'd seen Mercer outjab Lennox and have success with it just a year prior.

Ray Mercer was like trying to beat up a fire hydrant. Incredibly tough S.O.B.

And I guess he did give LL a beating that night.:bbb

Technically Bowe was out of shape for every fight after winning the title.

What is that BS with the reach stats? I think they mixed them up. Golota didn't have a longer reach than BOWE yet HBO said he did and I'm sure LL had something like an 84" reach.

The reach length #'s always seem to differ for some reason. People can't measure correctly these days!
