James Toney has the better resume.However, Hopkins ranks higher due to consistency.

Both are ATG.

Toney was so inconsistent. At his best he was a match for Hopkins but at his worst losses to Griffin, Thadzi and the robbery against Tiberi he was a level below Hopkins. The positive PED tests also put a big question mark over his achievements.

 

Hopkins and its not even close.

 

Hopkins overall but Toney has better wins.

Toney was better by far at their best but the idiot only trained sometimes.

Hopkins. And this isn't even close to be honest. If you ask the question, who was the better and more skilled fighter at their best? Then it is close. But Hopkins has far surpassed Toney in accomplishments and all time standings IMO.

I voted JT because at both of their peaks, JT was the better fighter !

 

This. Toney didn't accomplish half of what Hopkins has and the guy is a 2 time convicted steroid cheat.

 

Both are ATGs but Hopkins clearly ranks higher.

 

Toney has the best wins, and is the better H2H fighter at his peak IMO.

But Hopkins' longevity and consitancy puts him above Toney in the next teir of greats.
