Old but still great listen http://www.eastsideboxing.com/weblog/news.php?p=24613&more=1 #1. SRR #2. Hagler #3. SRL #4. Monzon #5. Hopkins
leonard? for what, ducking hagler for years until he got slow enough leonard wouldn't **** his pants to get in the ring with the guy? what a joke.
Leonard belongs nowhere near the list. I'm glad he realizes he did not have the quality of reign that Monzon and Hagler had. And obviously not quite the GOAT.
And then we have Abel Sanchez who calls Golovkin the nr 3 MW of all time already Hopkins is a heck of a character but he also knows where he stands at and who he is. Great to see humble fighters.
Alot of great middleweights, but Bhops always had the size to also be successful at 175, he did begin his career there after all. H2h against the best of best, he'd hold his own, but his defenses speak for themselves. I felt he always fell short in his most important fights as in the first Roy Jones Jr fight, Jermaine Taylor, Joe Calzaghe, and Dawson fights. But he did prove most wrong in the Trinidad and Pavlik fights when those 2 were undefeated. All I know is we should enjoy his last fights while he's still around cuz there ain't nobody like him in ANY era of boxing. His best win might still be the best to come.
What's funny is how people claim this mw era ad the weakest when the weakest I ever seen was when hops was making his 20 smg defenses against like 15 very low level fighters. He had to keep fighting the same journeyman multiple times. And that was the least relevant decade of his career for me. What hops had done this past decade is 100x greater than n anything he did b at mw. By far and sadly away the best things he ever did at mw was beat his Best 2 opponents that were ww's in odh and tito. And the tito fight there was way too much bs involved. Like tito stuck there, couldn't even train for a couple weeks. Should had been postponed. I know, Hops was in all likelihood just too large but anyways that was a very unprepared tito. I think he thought he could walk right through Him but no no that wasn't the case at all. I think all the stars alighned for hops during that match. Oh well
Bernard would have sonned Tito regardless, and his best opponent by far at MW was Roy Jones, who would have beaten "his best two opponents", Oscar and Tito, on the same night... With one arm tied behind his back... No ****ing problem at all, so clearly you have no clue what you're talking about.
I should had said his Best 2 mw wins were odh n tito. most likely hops was always just too big for tito but that was a very bad tito for that match. His team was stupid for not postponing it. Not going to say tito could've or would've even been able to win m. But that was a very physically and mentally unprepared tito.
de la hoya and tito put on one of the worst ppv fights of all time. they were scared to come near each other. hopkins fans wanna brag about beating these puffed up sissies?
Obviously I would expect rjj to be able to best both ww's but come on now, in the same night ? Rjj gets so over rated its pretty silly. Yes he was fast and powerful for a mw but he's not half the fighter many claim he was in his prime. Arm tied behind his back while beating 3 atg ww champions. Why not at the same time instead of just the same night. These 2 ww's probably wouldn't even half to wear 10oz. Gloves right. Rjj could kill them at the same time while they wore Antonio marg style wraps with no gloves needed
I love how a career welterweight is being called a coward for not fighting a career middleweight until he slowed down a little... Especially after fighting Benitez, Duran, and Hearns... atsch
First of all Monzon is #1 on the list! Robinson was the best in boxing over all. Hopkins not in the 5. Ray Leonard not even in the top ten,
