Here's mine: 1. Sugar Ray Robinson - His wins over his fellow HOFers is what actually made him the GOAT.. His all around ability is second to none.. He can outbox boxers and out-punch punchers.. He can fight going forward and going backwards.. He can also knock-out opponents with his left and his right.. 2. Henry Armstrong - He won 3 world titles out of 8 divisions during the time when there are only 1 universally recognized champion per division.. Not to mention he held 3 at the same time.. Featherweight, Lightweight and Welterweight titles.. You could make an argument about him being number 1.. :good 3. Muhammad Ali - First to win the Heavyweight title for three times.. He actually change the way heavyweights should fight.. The GOAT of heavyweight division.. 4. Joe Louis - Held the Heavyweight title for almost 12 years with 25 defenses.. 5. Roberto Duran - Held titles at Lightweight, Welterweight, Junior Middleweight and Middleweight.. He actually dominated the lightweight division of his era for 7 years.. 6. Rocky Marciano - The only undefeated world heavyweight champion.. That says a lot.. 49 - 0 7. Benny Leonard - Lightweight champion for 8 years.. The longest reign in Lightweight division.. Is he the GOAT of Lightweight division? That, I don't know.. 8. Willie Pep - A two-time featherweight champ with 230 professional victories.. 9. Harry Greb - Number 3 all time in the most bouts fought.. His win over Gene Tunney tops all his achievement actually.. 10. Sam Langford - Fought from Lightweight to Heavyweight. Never won a world title but still my top 10.. Other notable achievements: Source? Just google it.. :hey Harry Greb's 45-0 record in one year.. That's just wow! Jimmy Wilde's 96 consecutive win.. He's actually the GOAT of Flyweight.. Reggie Strickland's 276 loss but only getting knocked out 25 times.. Jack Britton fighting 342 fights without getting knocked-out.. The group of Sugar Ray Robinson, Henry Armstrong, Sandy Saddler, Tiger Jack Fox, Archie Moore, Billy Bird, Sam Langford, Alabama Kid and Young Stribling for getting 100 stoppages each in their careers.. Jem Mace to be the oldest boxer to box on professional level.. Bernard Hopkins to be the oldest boxer to win a world title.. Albert Griffith's 174 fights without loss.. Manny Pacquiao's 8 titles in 8 division.. There you have my list guys.. What's yours? :smoke
Manny Pacquiao deserves to be in the top 10,,... Eight titles in eight division, fought 17 current and former world champions out of 18 fights, three time BWAA fighter of the year, BWAA fighter of the decade,,...
#1 - Floyd Mayweather I mean he wouldn't run around like a dipstick shouting "The Best Ever!" for no reason right? RIGHT?!
I appreciate your work and dedication man.. :good I guess it would take a lot of time reading those but since you are here, you can simply answer my questions right? :hey Why is Langford number 1? I mean, we could easily add the titles boxers held during their career as a factor in ranking them all time.. He never won a world title right? Isn't Greb, Charles, and Fitzsimmons ranked too high?
Well I don't really get into it LJ, there's no more that I would say than is written in there. If you read that and think those placements are wrong, there's nothing I can do to change your mind here.
Robinson Whittaker Jones Jr Armstrong Duran R Leonard Pep Ali Hagler Burley Should be fairly obvious what my criteria is. I'm confident on my first 9, the tenth could be someone else, ant quite remember. I don't include any fighters that are active or un filmed.
He could also break into the top 0 in my opinion.. What I mean is there's a chance but I don't know.. Who could have said that Duran could be top 10 during their time right? But he is in the top 10 of most people's list.. :deal
You think there's enough footage of Burley to make that call? I admit he looks ****ing amazing in the minutes we have.
Robinson may be the greatest. But not because of the Hall of Famers he beat. That's just a part of it. It was his godlike ability, insane consistency (128-1-2), weight climbing exploits (No.1 LW when he beat Angott, WW and MW champ, and outboxed the LHW champ Maxim before succumbing to the heat). He beat plenty of greats. But Harry Greb beat more. Look at his list of HOFers: Kid Norfolk Mickey Walker Gene Tunney Tommy Gibbons 2x Mike Gibbons Tommy Loughran 4x Jack Dillon 2x Maxie Rosenbloom Battling Levinsky 6x Jimmy Slattery Billy Miske 2x Just insane. And that doesn't include champs George Chip (twice), Al McCoy (twice), Johnny Wilson 3x, and Mike McTigue 2x and beating every HW he ever fought.
SRR- Just look at his record Ali- His resume is probably the best of any HW Louis- 11 years & 10 months as champ, 25 defenses Lewis- second best resume imo after Ali (arguably just as good), beat every man he ever faced, retired on top(although he did duck a Vitali rematch). Possibly the most versatile HW ever. Pacquiao- 8 division champion, did all the heavy lifting when Kentucky Chicken Floyd went into hiding to avoid Margarito and young, prime Cotto Wladimir Klitschko- 62-3(53 KOs) 17 straight title defences(22 total if you include his WBO reign) ,nearly 10 years as the champ, has completely dominated this era and as destroyed 2 generations of champs and contenders. Vitali Klitschko- Absolute beast and H2H nightmare for any fighter in history. highest KO% of any HW champ, never been knocked down or out and never has been down on the scorecards at the end of a fight. Like his brother he has completely dominated an entire era of HWs. Came out of 4 year hiatus and completely destroyed the WBC champ 10 years his junior and made him quit on his stool. Like Lewis retired on top but without controversy. Roberto Duran- The GOAT at lightweight, came up the welter and beat SRL, won the MW crown at 37 from Barkley. Rocky Marciano- 49-0, second highest KO% of a HW champ, beat everybody they put in front of him, bone crunching punching power, amazing heart stamina and punch resistance George Foreman- 76-5(68 KOs) Greatest puncher in the history of the sport, oldest HW champ in history when he knocked out Moorer at 45.
