    1. Sugar Ray Robinson-No explanation really needed.

    2. Henry Armstrong-Held three world titles simultaneously, holds the record for most consecutive welterweight title defenses, and welterweight has perhaps the richest history of any of the original eight weight classes.

    3. Ezzard Charles-The best LHW of all time, and a top 15 HW as well. H2H, he'd give major problems to any LHW in history, and stands a good chance of beating most of them.

    4. Harry Greb-Ranks highly at both middleweight and LHW. Beat guys like Walker, Tunney, Flowers, and Loughran.

    5. Sam Langford-A natural lightweight who beat up heavyweights. Would probably have won the HW title if Johnson had given him a shot.

    6. Muhammad Ali-In terms of accomplishment and resume, no other heavyweight really comes close.

    7. Willie Pep-The best defensive fighter of all time. The only guy he couldn't outbox was Saddler, and Saddler was better than many people make him out to be.

    8. Joe Louis-25 HW title defenses. Nobody combined power and versatility better when it came to punching.

    9. Roberto Duran-Best lightweight of all time. Beat Sugar Ray Leonard at welterweight. 72-1 prior to fighting Leonard and he had avenged his one loss twice.

    10. Barney Ross-Won titles at three different divisions and beat great champions like McLarnin and Canzoneri.

    - Roy Jones Jr. Beat 20 other world champs from jr middle to heavyweight and made it look like child's play...Ahead of his time: incredible speed, quickness, explosiveness and fundamentals.
    - Floyd Mayweather: incredible mastery of the fundamentals. Lately, in his late 30's has routinely fought above his weight class...against guys 7-15 years younger who outweighed him by 15-30 lbs and who had been training since early childhood to be champs. And floyd still dominates them. Simply, unbelievably great....;ike van gogh. rembrandt and davinci, an overlooked genius because of his controversial persona.
    - Sugar Ray Leonard- a true bada88 who stood toe-to-toe with the consummate slugger (duran) outboxed the consummate defensive fighter (benitez), ko'd the consummate ko puncher (hearns) and outfought the consummate tough-guy (hagler)
-Sugar Ray Robinson- Waaaay ahead of his time...would have dominated the likes of Carlos Monzon and Joe Calzaghe with ease.
    - Muhammad Ali- The best heavyweight of all time due to his innovative approach to boxing (fighting with the speed, mobility and stamina of a welterweight)
    - Mike Tyson - The most vicious fighter of all time....truly a monster in the ring.
    - Sweet Pea whitakler: Forget willie pep. this guy was the most "pure boxer" of all time...beat the cream of a very highly rated crop including DLH, Chavez, McGirt and Nelson.
    - Marvin Hagler: Greatest middleweight of all time afther roy jones jr.
    - Henry Armstrong: Fiirst multi-division Champ
TIE: Joe Louis: Ahead of his time as well: brilliant combination puncher who decimated the heavyweight class
    - Hopkins: Besides being a great middleweight was also a great lightheavyweight and beat all the top guys of his era including taylor and calzaghe (despite what the record books say).

Joe Calzaghe needs to be some where on a top ten list.

:good I had the urge to edit my list and put him in it. The guy gets criminally underrated on this forum.

Calzaghe might be criminally underrated but to place him in a top ten ATG list is undoubtedly criminally overrating him. It's debatable whether he's a top ten ATG Brit.

Hate all you want. 46-0, undisputed super middle weight champion with 21 title defenses. DEMOLISHES Jeff "the next Mike Tyson" Lacy (possibly worst one sided beating in history), dominates a young, prime undefeated Mikkel Kessler when he's 35. Then went up in weight to fight Hopkins(who ducked him for years) and beats him to take the lineal LHW strap, then completely dominates Roy Jones so badly to the point that he dances and mocks Roy while he's kicking his ass.

Calzaghe was basically impossible to beat by decision, his cardio and ferocious workrate was too much. Hopkins tried to pot shot him and got overwhelmed. Only way to beat him is by KO and Calzaghe had a good chin (go watch the Kessler fighter) and even more heart. Whenever he got hurt in a fight, he just fought 2x as hard.

A real H2H nightmare against any fighter at 168 and 175 in history. In my opinon he's the best super middleweight in history and I'd favor him to beat almost every LHW ever. I'd even favor him to beat a prime Jones. He'd just be too busy and active for Jones to win rounds and pot shot. He'd get Roy on the ropes and pummel him just like he did when they fought in 08.
People always discredit his win against Jones by saying Jones was old but they conveniently don't mention that Joe was only 3 years younger and also past his prime. If people are actually being objective they will acknowledge that Roy actually looked in good form that night, much better than he did against Tarver or Jonson. He came in trim in good shape and his punches were sharp and fast. Even Manny Steward who was a guest analyst for HBO was saying that Jones looked good in the fight. Joe just had his number. Jones was always a guy who liked to not throw many punches in a round and didn't do well against pressure or having his back on the ropes. If Calzaghe was on a 900-1000 punch pace for that fight he would win.

It is very reasonable have Calzaghe as a top 10 ATG.

It would be a great fight. If Kovalev can't find the early finish then he would be in for a rough night.
