:rofl Hopkins would never have come to the UK to fight Calzaghe. Hopkins was the better technician in there but Joe adapted and out worked him. Calzaghe even had the alleged hard man from the ghetto feigning illegal punches. The fight was awful to watch with Hopkins hugging for dear life with Mr America Joe Cortez letting him get away with illegal tactics as always. I cannot believe you truly think Hopkins would fight outside of the US.
i hate it when people rate Hagler over Monzon. he's not above him. Monzon is the very best in history. but the two sugar's??????? especially Leonard. just get the **** out of my face. ****ing Leonard.
Well, yes he is..... Please remember, as I mentioned that in all reality SRR, even though he won titles at MW , and recaptured his title in several occasion , even late in his career, his record as MW, can't compare with his achievements at WW, this is the weight class that made him the legend he was,.., In similar fashion SRL, also made his mark at WW....so we need to review the weight class for those that fought in the division for most of their careers: The likes of Monzon MMH Walker Greb BHOP, SRR ....so we can have SRR as a perhaps and arguably the #5 or #6 MW....one list could have BHOP others SRR....so yes...I would considered him in that category
I actually think hopkins is sellling himself a little short. he would have beat the vastly overrated monzon with ease. My list is as follows: 1- RJJ 2-SRL (based on the fact that he would have beat everybody else at this weight) 3- Hagler 4- James Toney 5- Bernard Hopkins 6- SRR 7- Tommy Hearns 8- Gerald Mcclellan ( prime mcllellan was pretty scary) 9- Michael Nunn 10 TIE mike mccallum & Tiger Flowers
Hopkins list probably looks very similar to that. At least he stuck Monzon in there. I doubt he'd feel too comfortable going any lighter than that though.
I would rearrange the list a bit but i have no issues with him being at 5.... pretty humble from him honestly.
Going to Canada is hardly the same as coming across the pond when your a well established fighter in your own country. And although he went to Ecuador that was prior to him being a name fighter, you Americans like the comfort of your own country.
