Bet you are going to argue that Hopkins was shot too and completely ignore all his accomplishments since.:lol:

A grip on reality? You my friend need to get one.

Who cares, he is a commentator now. He's just a younger Jim Lampley.

Ward is the worst prima donna in boxing.

    He's an extremely selfish man.

:think He was guaranteed 1 fight where he wanted it. Before the finals he faced Kessler, Green, Bika and Abraham.
Green was an American so where should they have traveled? Finland? They could have fought someplace else than Oakland but Green is not really a draw.

Bika was not part of the S6
That leaves us with only one fight in which he should have had to travel.

All this fuss about one fight.

And yes, Ward did pull a ***** move with Bute.

As I suspected this argument is a few levels above your pay scale. You critcize Joe for not traveling when he did, yet you refused to criticize Ward when he hasn't nor shown any willingness to.

As mum always told me: 'you can't argue with an idiot'

sounds worse now as when he didnt fight Dirrell he was awarded 2 points, rather than face a sub.

And if you remember the negotiations for that fight Ward vehemently refused to take it anywhere other than Oakland, despite the fact he just had a home fight and Dirrell just had to travel to the UK.

Google: ward v dirrell: no budge on fight location

I do recall that. I remember there were doubts about that fight as there wasnt an agreed location etc, but I seem to think that dirrell was sparring again before his fight with Ward was even due to happen. could be wrong with that

Yeah. I get the feeling Dirrell was advised to pull out because they was worried he would lose a hometown decision to Ward. Had Ward accepted a fight somewhere other than Oakland I have a feeling that fight may well have happened.

Do you really think a professional athlete like andre ward would be affected to such a degree that a away fight would make his skills drop by 50%?

Well I do think limiting yourself to only the s6 is pretty weird. Ofcourse there's a slight advantage if you fight at home. But the point of bringing up the amateur victories and the s6 victory was to illustrate that in fact when ward fight away and all the marbels are up for grabs he doesn't choke.

So I think that the reason why alot of people complain about that he doesn't travel is because that's really the only thing you can complain about. The guy has won every fight convincingly, hasn't lost since he was 12 (kinda unsure of this), Has beaten everyone of note in the divison he's in, fought the n#1 guy in the divison above and ko'd him.

To be fair to the fighter you have to weigh in both aspects, yes he doesn't travel alot but then again why does he have to? Finacially I do see that there's a reason to fight Froch at home or maybe JCC jr. But other then that there should be guys lining up to fight Andre.

And just a random thought isn't it weird that Andre ward fought for the WBA title in 16th november last year. Then a week later Froch and Groves fight for the same title. Looks pretty weird to me.

How can he loose the title he just fought for and won for the week before isn't that strange? hahahahttp://boxrec.com/title_search.php?title=WBASUP&division=Super%20Middleweight&SUBMIT=Go

But Calzaghe traveled outside his own country, so it's not good for Joe because he felt the need to travel. Ward hasn't, nor has shown a willingness, nor will get any further big fights unless he does.

Calzaghe has fought outside his own country a higher % of times than Ward outside his own state. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. :hi:
